A Tribute to Leo Greco - Camp Courageous

features a high resolution camera. It helps
those with low vision issues see items
with amazing detail. Dr. Fisher is pictured
demonstrating the device along with Dr.
Phillip Fitch.
Camp Courageous is very fortunate to have
Lynn Burrell owner of Frontier Garden Center
on Blairsferry road in Cedar Rapids as a
friend. On a very regular basis he provides
camp with needed items, items for the garage
sale, and items for the Pineapple Gala. Just
a wonderful gentleman.
Jim Ungs, General Manager of the Theisen's
Store in Dyersville, recently provided camp a
bale feeder for horses. Jim has been a long
time contributor to camp.

Racing Association/Mystique Casino were
invited guests for VIP day during the MDA
week at Camp Courageous. They also took
time from their busy schedule to take a tour
of camp. The Dubuque Racing Association
was been very generous to camp through
their grant program and has funded a part
of such projects as the well project,the dorm
project,the Jungle Gym,the purchase of
AEDs for camp,camp buses,the keyless lock
project,and much more. It was wonderful to
have the chance to visit with Joey and Eric
and show them all the ways the Dubuque
Racing Association has helped the camp
grow. Shown are Eric and Joey in front
of some of the plaques dedicated to DRA
projects for Camp Courageous.
(L-R) Thank you to Jack Naylor of Burlington
for donating to camp 24 needed poles for the
camp teepees and 6 antique extension fire
engine laddars. With Jack is his friend Jerry
Smith. Jack is a great promoter of the camp
in the Burlington area.
Thank you to Darlene Edginton who brought
to camp these two beautiful quilts made by
St. Joseph Parish in Marion.
Marginal Note: A lot of growing up takes place between “it fell” and “I dropped it.”
Thank you to Steve & Dawn Paul for their
donation of a 1993 Ford F150 pickup to
Camp. Above is a picture of Steve and his
daughter, Ketlyn.
Camp Courageous would like to thank the
Monticello Rotary Club for inviting camp to
give them an update to them. The Monticello
Rotary has been involved with camp since
the earliest of days. A good and caring group!
The anniversary of Jim Dalton's Rock-n-Roll
Reunion was a fun success. Held at the
Kernels Stadium in Cedar Rapids, it was
a perfect evening. Special thanks to Jim
Raucher (WMT Chief Engineer), and former
WMT staff Nancy Koestner, Jim Dalton,
Sharon Reeves, and Gary Edwards!
It was a treat to have (L-R) Jim Dalton and
former WMT General Manager, Larry Edwards,
at the event. Larry was one of those individuals
who gave WMT staff, like Tait Cummins, Leo
Greco, and Jim Dalton great latitude in their
support of Camp Courageous using the radio
station. Just a super, gentle man!
