It was honor to have two very dedicated
and great leaders for Iowa and the nation
visit camp. (L-R) Pete Swisher is part of
the National Park Service, under the US
Department of the Interior. Pete Swisher
was formerly Chief Park Ranger at Jefferson
National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis,
Mo., and in January was named the new
Superintendent for Herbert Hoover National
Historic Site in West Branch, Iowa. With Pete
is John Schwartz who is part of the National
Archives and Record Administration. John is
the new Director of the Hoover Presidential
Library and Museum in West Branch. Tom
served as Chief Historian for exhibits and
content at the Abraham Lincoln Museum
and the Director of Research and the Lincoln
Collection in the Lincoln Library in Springfield
IL. It was a treat to have them both visit.
It was a joy to have Don & Connie March
of the Twin Cities area stop by camp with
needed supplies and a check to support
the Lake Project. Don & Connie lived in
Dubuque and the Bernard area for many
years. Through their church and Harriet Starr
they became familiar with camp and have
been regulars to the camp's Pineapple Gala,
Breakfasts/Open Houses and so much more
for years. A wonderful couple, we can't thank
them enough for going out of their way to visit
camp and to continue to support it.
Thank you
to Cecil and
Jeannette Knuth
of Cascade, IA
for donating their
grandson's 4-H
pigs to Camp
Courageous.
One of the pigs
was the Grand
Champion Pig
at the Dubuque
County Fair.
The Knuth Family have been long time
supporters of Camp Courageous.
