First dog,first winnerTHERE is a group of young guys outKallangur way riding a successful wave.They are first time owners who formthe Ace Bakers Syndicate that owns BundyAssassin.They are Dion Snell, Michael Bath, RayKuhn and Glyne Coffee and when BundyAssassin landed the big end of the prize atAlbion Park recently, she had exceeded alltheir expectations.Dion, Ray and Glyne are bakers. Theirmate Michael works in the scrap metalbusiness.“We got interested through GaryHolborn who was going to be a partner inthe pup,” said Dion.“But Gary pulled out as did a couple ofother mates Michael Barry and Troy Boylewho are both regretting it now.”Bundy Assassin was reared on theNorthern Rivers by Brad Northfield andthe boys promptly forgot about her.“Brad had to ring and ask if we werecoming to get her,” said Dion. “We arenovices at this game. She went up to Bevanand Elaine Williamson are educated herand she hasn’t looked back.”Serge Livotto, who trains her, believesthe finish-on lures introduction at AlbionPark has been a God-send for BundyAssassin.“It has given her a confidence she maynever have got,” he said.When she won a maiden at Albion Parkrecently, her owners were there, but not allof them.“Glyne was 100 metres from the trackand had to listen to it on the radio,” saidDion. “He missed out.”Search endedwith red facesMORNINGSIDE trainer was sohappy with his new purchase hedecided to drop in to his mate outHemmant way and show her off.As soon as he opened the back ofhis station wagon, the bitch dartedout and dashed off into a nearby,and very large paddock.Morningside trainer and hishemmant mate spent hours trying totrack her down without luck despite acouple of sightings.Our man from Morningside ranghis wife and kids and they duelyarrived to help with the search.Butafter a few more hours, andwith night starting to set in, the kidscomplaining, and everyone gettingtired of the search, all five headedback to the station wagon.There, sitting as proud as punchin the back of the wagon, was ourMorningside man's lastest pride andjoy.The search in the paddock hadgone on four hours and hours.No one bothered to take a lookback at the original source.Morningside man was red faced,and his Hemmant mate has notstopped telling the story.The (May, 2009) Journal Page 15
