5) Cross bolt lockTo avoid unintentional opening of the bolt, or unintentional cockingof the rifle. The bolt assembly is equipt with a cross bolt lock. Whenlock is pushed to the right a white dot will be visible, at this positionthe action cannot be opened, and the rifle cannot be cocked. All functionsare blocked.When the cross bolt is pushed to the left a red dot will be visible. Atthis position the action can be opened or the rifle can be cocked forfiring.White dotred dotWarning! The bolt lever lock is no safety device for the cocked rifle.6) Safety systemWarning: The SR 30 should never be carried in the cocked position. Atthis position there is no safety device to prevent unintentional discharge.Cock rifle only when ready to fire.The safety system for the SR 30 is that it remains in the uncocked positionuntil you are ready to fire. A cross bolt is provided to lock theaction in the uncocked position to prevent unintentional opening ofthe bolt, or unintentional cocking of the rifle. In the cocked positionneither of the dots, red or white will be visible.7) Trigger systemWarning: Rifles equipt with single set triggers should never be carriedwith the trigger in the set (forward) position. This a very dangerouspractice, as the trigger in this position has a very light pull, a slight jarringor bumping of the rifle could result in an unintentional discharge.The SR 30 is equipt with a single set trigger, i.e. the trigger can be18
used as crisp single stage shotgun type trigger which is an advantagein a quick shot situation. The trigger in the set position can be usedfor placing a very precise shot. In the event that you have set the trigger,but decide not to shoot the trigger can be returned to the unsetposition by simply decocking the rifle.Note: The trigger will always return to the unset position when therifle is decocked. It is not possible to set the trigger in the decockedposition.Warning: The trigger is fully adjustable. This should only be done by aqualified gunsmith or your Heym Service Center.8) Inserting and removing magazineInsert the magazine into the magazine well until it is firmly seatedand locked in place. To remove, press magazine release on the side ofthe floor plate with your thumb or middle finger while keeping thepalm of your hand under the magazine. The magazine has a springloaded ejection feature that pushes the magazine partially out of themagazine well, the magazine will now fall into your hand.9) Loading the SR 30.Warning: Always check before loading that no foreign objects are lodgedin the barrel. Always handle the SR 30 as if it were loaded.Loadyour SR 30 in a safe area to do so. Never transport a loaded weaponin your car. Never point the muzzle at your self or anything you donot intent to shoot. Make sure your ammunition is in good conditionand is of the proper caliber.• Insert cartridges into the box magazine. The magazine has a capacityof three cartridges. Make sure the cartridges are firmly seated tothe rear of the magazine.• Insert loaded magazine in the magazine well, make sure it is seatedand firmly locked in place.• Pull bolt all the way to the rear.• Push the bolt forward to the fully closed position, at this point youhave stripped a cartridge from the magazine and chambered around of ammunition.Englisch19
