7.6.1 Deploy a mix of management tools including but not limited to those set out<br />

below, to ensure that visitor activity is appropriate, does not detract from the<br />

park setting and ecosystems and does not detract from park enjoyment of other<br />

park users. These may include:<br />

c) placing conditions on specified activities,<br />

d) placing limits or caps on activities,<br />

e) prohibiting inappropriate activities,<br />

Within the framework provided by the park classification and the activity management<br />

zones there is a range of management tools that can be used to manage the visitor impacts<br />

on the regional parks. Many of them can be used in combination, depending on the issue<br />

and the characteristics of the location to be managed. This is not an exclusive list and new<br />

and refined techniques may be implemented from time to time.<br />

a) Ranger presence<br />

A point of difference with Auckland’s regional parks is that they are managed by ranger<br />

staff. The rangers help park visitors to learn about the parks and get the most out of their<br />
