Of thesepatients, 14 (31 implants) were in the 4-month loadinggroup, and 13 (30 implants) were in the 6-month loadinggroup. We investigated the implantation type (submergedor nonsubmerged), sinus membrane perforation, type ofprosthesis, opposed tooth type, primary and secondarystability of implants, and crestal bone loss around implantand surrounding tissue conditions.Table 1. However, the difference between groups wasnot statistically significant (P=.211). The width of keratinizedmucosa, gingival index, plaque index, and pocket depth of the4-month and 6-month loading groups were 2.50±1.69 mm and1.73±1.40 mm (P=.081), 0.72±0.83 and 0.59±0.69 (P=.671),1.11±0.96 and 0.76±0.79 (P=.226), 3.56±0.98 mm and 3.65±1.06 mm (P=.758), respectively. The primary stabilities ofimplants in the 4-month and 6-month loading groups were61.96±12.84 and 56.06±15.55 (P=.120), and the secondarystabilities were 71.85±6.80 and 66.51±11.28 (P=.026),respectively. The secondary stability of the 4-month group wassignificantly higher than that of the 6-month group. There wasno statistical difference (P>.05) between the 4-month and 6-month loading groups regarding the implantation type(submerged or nonsubmerged), sinus membrane perforation,type of prosthesis, or opposed tooth type. In the 4-month and6-month groups, all of the implants survived until the final recalltime.Conclusions:For the cases in which the residual bone was 3 mm andprimary implant stability could be obtained, we concludethat loading is possible 4 months after the sinus bone graftand simultaneous implant placement.Objectives:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stability oftapered resorbable blasting media (RBM) surface implantsin the posterior maxilla.Study design:From September 2008 through January 2010, 20 patients(9 male, 11 female) who were treated with tapered GS IIIimplants at Seoul National University Bundang Hospitalwere identified.
