Multicentric Retrospective Clinical Study on the ClinicalApplication of Mini Implant SystemClinical Research of Immediate Restoration Implant with Miniimplantsin Edentulous SpaceYoung-Kyun Kim, In-Sung Yeo, Yang-Jin Yi, Un-Kyu Kim, Kyung-Nam Moon, Seung-Joon Jeon, Yong-Seok Cho, Pil-Young YunJ Korean Assoc Oral Maxillofac Surg 2010;36(4):325-30Huang JS, Zhao JJ, Liu Q, Liu TTHua Xi Kou Qiang Yi Xue Za Zhi. 2010 Aug;28(4):412-6Objectives:Results:Objectives:Results:MS System Clinical StudyMini-implant system is applicable to areas of narrow spaceand area requiring temporary loading support. The purposeof this study was to evaluate the clinical outcome of a miniimplantsystem as well as the application of mini-implantsystem in the dental clinical field.Study design:The patients who had been operated from Jan 2007 to Dec2007 in the four dental facility including Seoul NationalUniversity Bundang Hospital were enrolled. To evaluate thefactors associated with the clinical outcome, the patientswere classified according to gender, age, area of surgery, type of implant, diameter and length of the implant, and thepurpose of the mini-implant system application.Table 1. There were no serious surgicalor prosthetic complications in this study. Conclusions:An analysis of the preliminary data revealed a satisfactoryclinical outcome. However, more long-term evaluation ofnarrow ridge type as well as the patient’s satisfaction onthe use of a provisional type mini-implant system isneeded. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinicaleffective of immediate restoration with Osstem MS miniimplantin the edentulous space of 5-6 mm.Study design:The sample consisted of 36 consecutively treated partiallyedentulous patients who had a total of 36 Osstem MSmini-implants, which were 2.5 mm or 3.0 mm in diameterand placed in 5-6 mm gap. The chair-side-made orlaboratory-made provisional crowns for implants werefabricated at the time of fixtures placed. The finalrestorations were fabricated with gold alloy-fused-porcelaincrown 3 to 5 months later. During the mean 21.3 months(12-37 months) follow-up time since fixtures placement, allimplants were examined clinically and radiologically. No implant failed before restoration. One implant led anadjacent tooth pulp necrosis after the implantation, but thenatural tooth and implant were successfully retained byroot canal therapy. 36 implants in 36 patients who werefollowed-up were successful and their aesthetic resultswere satisfactory. Conclusions:Immediate loaded implant with Osstem MS mini-implanthas good clinical prosthetic effects in the edentulous spaceof 5-6 mm.MS System Clinical StudyHealthy48(98)Fig. 1.
