Dear Participants in the 10th Annual Engineering Design Day:
I would like to welcome each of you to the 10th Annual Engineering Design Day. This event is where we demonstrate the broad array
of design work going on here in the UA College of Engineering. Our audience today includes UA students, faculty, industry partners,
alumni, local K-12 students, and family and community members. This is the best day of the academic year for all of us.
This event is the product of the hard work of students, mentors, and faculty and, importantly, the generous support of and partnership
with many individuals and organizations. The projects you find on display are sponsored and funded by companies, inventors, student
clubs, and faculty. Professional mentors guide students through industry-standard procedures to realize their designs and to build
prototypes within the framework formal design processes taught by faculty. On behalf of our students and faculty, I would like to
thank all of our sponsors for their support and the time spent by everyone mentoring and guiding our students.
Please stop, look and talk with the student teams about their projects. Give them a chance to “show you their stuff ” and please make a
point of asking questions. They’ve spent a lot of time on their projects and would like nothing better than to help you see what they are
all about.
Above all, enjoy the day, as this is what engineering at the UA is all about!
