Any scholarship or financial aid to a student-athlete must be awarded inaccordance with all NCAA <strong>and</strong> <strong>SEC</strong> regulations. Full records detailing the source <strong>and</strong> distribution of all financial aidawarded to student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics shall be kept for a minimum of seven years.15.01.2 Eligibility of Student-Athletes for Institutional Financial Aid.(a)(b)(c)A student-athlete who has signed an <strong>SEC</strong> Financial Aid Agreement with a member institution <strong>and</strong> is eligible toreceive the athletic scholarship on the institution’s first day of classes of the academic year specified on the financialaid agreement, but who does not enter that institution or who does enter <strong>and</strong> withdraws from that institution beforefully completing his/her first semester or quarter (except when the recipient of an athletic scholarship award entersmilitary service before enrolling in the awarding institution <strong>and</strong> remains in military service for a period of eighteenmonths or more), shall not be eligible to receive an athletics grant-in-aid during the student-athlete’s first two years inresidence at the second <strong>SEC</strong> institution. [Revised 6/2/06; effective 8/1/2006]Participation by the institution in a representative <strong>Conference</strong> schedule is a prerequisite to the awarding of financialaid in any sport regulated by the <strong>Conference</strong>.If a student-athlete is awarded financial aid in a sport recognized by the NCAA but not regulated by the <strong>Conference</strong><strong>and</strong> desires to participate in a sport which is regulated by the <strong>Conference</strong>, the student-athlete must be counted asthough he/she were given the same aid in the sport in which the student-athlete wishes to participate. Further, thestudent-athlete cannot practice or participate in the sports of football or men’s basketball until he has met theprovisions of NCAA <strong>Bylaws</strong> 15.5.1 <strong>and</strong>/or 15.5.7.15.2 ELEMENTS OF FINANCIAL AID15.2.1 Summer Financial Aid A prospective student-athlete must be certified as a qualifier by the NCAAEligibility Center prior to being awarded financial aid by a member institution for the summer term preceding initialcollegiate enrollment at such member institution. The student-athlete awarded the aid must have also been awardedaid for the upcoming fall term by the member institution. The aid award must be to allow the student-athlete tobecome acclimated to the university setting <strong>and</strong> to advance academically prior to initial full-time enrollment at thecertifying member institution. The student-athlete must enroll in a minimum of six hours of academic course work(other than physical education activity courses) that is acceptable degree credit toward any of the memberinstitution’s degree programs. Remedial, tutorial <strong>and</strong> noncredit courses may be used to satisfy the minimum six-hourrequirement, provided the courses are considered by the member institution to be prerequisites for specific coursesacceptable for any degree program <strong>and</strong> are given the same academic weight as other courses offered by theinstitution. Notwithst<strong>and</strong>ing the provisions of Bylaw 15.2.1, a prospective student-athlete not certified by theNCAA Eligibility Center may be provided with financial aid for the summer term preceding initial collegiateenrollment at the certifying member institution if the prospective student-athlete has:25
