BYLAW, ARTICLE 18Championships <strong>and</strong> Tournaments18.8 <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> Championships <strong>and</strong> Tournaments ..................................................................................................... 3118.8 SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND TOURNAMENTS18.8.1 General Regulations. <strong>Conference</strong> championships <strong>and</strong> tournaments are subject to the following:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(f)(g)(h)Unless otherwise specified in the sections dealing with individual sports, <strong>Conference</strong> championships <strong>and</strong>tournaments shall be held in accordance with the Commissioner’s Regulations for each sport;Institutions participating shall assume full financial responsibilities;It shall be the duty of the <strong>Conference</strong> member or members to which championships or tournaments are awarded tomake all local arrangements for conducting the championships or tournaments. The host institution shall keep acomplete record of the contest <strong>and</strong> report to the <strong>Conference</strong> office;All <strong>Conference</strong> championships <strong>and</strong> tournaments shall be open to only <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> teams;In the sports of football, baseball, men’s <strong>and</strong> women’s basketball, gymnastics <strong>and</strong> soccer, a detailed financial reportshall be made to the <strong>Conference</strong> office. In all other championships <strong>and</strong> tournaments that are administered by amember institution, the host institution will assume full financial responsibilities <strong>and</strong> file a financial report with the<strong>Conference</strong> office; [Revised 6/3/93]The <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> office will provide trophies <strong>and</strong> awards for all sports in accordance with theCommissioner’s Regulations governing each sport;All <strong>Conference</strong> championships shall be scheduled during a time period that does not conflict with the finalexamination periods of any member institution. A waiver of this bylaw shall be granted only upon the majorityapproval of the Executive Committee; <strong>and</strong> [Revised 6/1/96]All rules regarding selection of participants <strong>and</strong> seeding for the <strong>Conference</strong> championships shall be included in theCommissioner’s Regulations for each sport.
