BYLAW, ARTICLE 21Committees, Meetings, Events21.8 Coaches’ Meetings <strong>and</strong> Other Events ........................................................................................................................................ 3521.9 Sports Committees ..................................................................................................................................................................... 3521.8 COACHES’ MEETINGS AND OTHER EVENTS21.8.1 Attendance. Each head coach in the <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> is required to attend the following to the extentapplicable to their sport:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)Annual Coaches’ Meeting;Winter Meeting of Head Football Coaches;Press <strong>Conference</strong>s at <strong>Conference</strong> Championships;Coaches Luncheon at <strong>SEC</strong> Football Championship; <strong>and</strong><strong>Conference</strong> Media Day Event.21.8.2 Penalty. Should a coach not attend any of the events listed above, without the prior approval of the Commissioner,his or her member institution shall pay a $10,000 fine to the <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong>. [Adopted 6/4/04; Revised 5/29/09;effective 8/1/2009; Renumbered, Relocated <strong>and</strong> Clarified 6/1/11]21.9 SPORTS COMMITTEES21.9.20 <strong>Southeastern</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> Sports Committees. Men’s <strong>and</strong> women’s sports committees are subject to thefollowing:(a)(b)(c)There shall be a sports committee for each men’s <strong>and</strong> each women’s sport sponsored by the <strong>Southeastern</strong><strong>Conference</strong>. The committee shall be composed of the head coaches of each institution sponsoring thesport. The chair of the committee will be selected by the head coaches each year; [Revised 6/1/95]The sports committees make recommendations to the Athletic Directors <strong>and</strong>/or Senior WomanAdministrators on all aspects of their sport; <strong>and</strong>The format <strong>and</strong> site of all coaches’ meetings are to be determined by the <strong>Conference</strong> office, <strong>and</strong> eachinstitution shall be represented by only the head coach. No alternative representation shall be permittedabsent prior approval of the Commissioner. In track where there are two coaches, one representing men’steams <strong>and</strong> one representing women’s teams, each institution shall be represented by at least one headcoach. Additionally, in swimming, the diving coach of the host institution for the championship may attendthe meeting. [Revised 6/5/99]35
