"If My Friends Could See Me Now"
Roy Davis was named 1975
year's alumni buffet.
The convocation began with a flam-
boyant singing presentation of "If My
Friends Could See Me Now" by alum-
nus and former Centralairs member
Beverly Butler Taylor '74, who stepped
in at two days' notice for laryngitis-
plagued Jena Jones '74.
Emcee for the program was Assist-
ant to the President of I.C. Lynn Young-
blood '63.
Among those participating in the
program were Roy Davis '25, named
first came to Central, and what a few
of the highlights were in his more than
50 years with the college.
Also interviewed was Dr. Charles
team physician for Indiana Central for
many years, talked about his experi-
ence with Central, and how he re-
fereed the first team wrestling match
at the college.
Throughout the convocation the audi-
ence was treated to slides of alumni
"then and now," and to a series of
"Distinguished Alumnus" at this
"200 years-ago-today"-style glimpses
back into the history of the college.
These brief interludes were presented
ment Office; Rosemary Peterson, Dean
of Women; Florabelle Williams Wilson
The morning's program was con-
music presentation about our campus
produced by alumnus David Brady '64
Leaving the cool darkness of Rans-
burg Auditorium at noon, the alumni
greeted the bright world of sunshine
for the Brown County-Style Picnic. The
temperature was ideal-lazing in the
mid-70's. The sky was as blue as it
ever is in May, and alumni and their
families seemed to enjoy the food and
the campus park.
Following the long and leisurely
lunch, the many gathered alums spent
the afternoon in a variety of activities.
At 1:30 the classes of '25, '30, '35,
present I.C. baseball players gathered
for a game at the campus field. The
youngsters pulled out a victory in a
close game.
A delightful fashion show sponsored
by Stretch and Sew brought together
40 women in an upstairs conference
room in Schwitzer Center to see how to
save money in coordinating a ward-
robe.
As 3:30 p.m. rolled around alumni
members of Philalethea shared tea and
cookies in the faculty lounge of Schwit-
zer Center. The group sadly announced
that it would no longer continue meet-
ing. The tea brought to an end the
afternoon activities of Alumni Day.
At 530 p.m. the new members of
the Alumni Board of Directors; Jim
Brunnemer, Alumni Director, and his
wife, Luella Sauer '69; and President
and Mrs. Gene E. Sease formed a
pre-dinner receiving line on the lower
level of Schwitzer Center.
The evening buffet which featured
shrimp, lasagne, and roast beef capped
off the day's activities. After-dinner
music was provided by the Faculty Dis-
cords, Lynn Youngblood '63, Reggie
Monson, George Humbarger, and Adolf
Hansen, who sang barbership quartet
songs, and serenaded retiring Alumni
Association president Michelle Stone-
burner Branch '66.
New Alumni Board members were
then sworn in, plaques were presented
to retiring board members, and presi-
dent Michelle Branch thanked the As-
sociation for its help and aooperation
during her term of office.
Following her comments, Lloyd Hiatt
'40, incoming alumni president, made
Indiana Central graduates, were being
named Honorary Alumni of Indiana
Central. The two were present and
drew a standing ovation from the
crowd as they accepted membership.
A second highlight of the evening
was the presentation of the 1975 In-
diana Central Distinguished Alumnus
award to retired professor Roy V. Davis
who continues to live in University
Heights and attends many campus func-
