THE MARCHES, ITALY<br />
The foundation of the winery in Cupramontana by Dr Gino Umani Ronchi<br />
dates back to the 195:’s. Later, Eng. Bianchi entered into partnership<br />
and the production and marketing of ‘Umani Ronchi’ wines increased notably.<br />
Today, Umani Ronchi owns 110 hectares in the Verdicchio Classico<br />
area, 60 hectares in the Rosso Conero, and 30 in Abruzzi. Though the<br />
winery is a leading exponent of two native Marches wines—Verdicchio and<br />
Rosso Conero—wines from foreign grape varieties, notably Chardonnay,<br />
Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, have resulted in wines<br />
that have achieved international acclaim.<br />
