Establish a standing deanery subcommittee for Hispanicministry comprised of priests and lay peoplefrom parishes throughout the deanery who activelywork or volunteer with Hispanic ministry;b. Define the need for Hispanic ministry in the deaneryin collaboration with pastors using both materialsprovided by the Archdiocese and local information;c. Suggest ways of clustering services, including Spanish-languageMasses, religious education, youthministry, sacramental preparation, etc.;d. Assess the need for Spanish-speaking priests andother Spanish-speaking pastoral personnel and collaboratewith the Vicar for Hispanic Ministry andthe Priest Placement Board to make recommendationsto meet priest personnel needs for Hispanicministry;e. Identify materials, services or other resources neededby the deanery or individual parishes;f. Prepare an annual report on the status of Hispanicministry within the parishes of the deanery, highlightingareas of particular accomplishment or challenge.3. Pastors, priest administrators, parish life directorsor pastoral coordinators are asked to consider thefollowing steps for the implementation of the pastoralplan:a. Present the Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry toparish leadership, including both pastoral and financecouncils and commissions dealing with liturgyand religious education and formation;b. In consultation with councils, assess the effectivenessof existing Hispanic ministries and/or the needfor such ministries;c. Identify financial and personnel resources withinthe parish to support Hispanic ministry;d. Report annually to the deanery on the implementationof the parish plan for Hispanic ministry.Q: Who will pay for the services and ministries envisionedby the pastoral plan?A: Resources in support of Hispanic ministry will be providedat the diocesan, deanery and parish levels, dependingon the level of need and the financial resourcesof the deanery/parish involved. The Archbishop, withthe Vicar for Hispanic Ministry, will seek to establish aseed money fund through stewardship to help deaneriesdevelop a regional Hispanic ministry. The fund will haveclear criteria for applications and will offer a financialincentive for those deaneries that have a comprehensiveplan. The Vicar for Hispanic Ministry will collaboratewith the Archbishop to develop monies that can be directedto support Hispanic ministry within the Archdiocesanbudget. Deans and pastors will also be asked todetermine how money could be raised or redirected tosupport Hispanic ministry.Q: How is progress going to be reported and evaluated?A: The Vicar for Hispanic Ministry, with the collaborationof the Assistant Director for Hispanic/Latino MinistryServices, will be responsible to assist the deanery andparishes with the assessment of their plan and its implementation.Suggested steps include:1. Parishes select parish-based action steps within each ofthe four pastoral areas (formation, solidarity, communionin mission and liturgy & prayer life) according totheir own circumstances and share their experiences;2. Parishes’ reports can include the description of existingservices, the number of Hispanics being served and thenumber of Hispanics on the parish staff and/or involvedin parish councils or commissions;3. Deaneries develop their own Hispanic ministry plansthat reflect the priorities and goals of the ArchdiocesanPlan and share these plans with the Vicar for HispanicMinistry;14
