Recruit and train bi-lingual volunteers for social andpastoral outreach in parishes and social agencies, in collaborationwith deaneries and parishes.3. Design a training that includes information about theneeds of the Hispanic community and educate the parishcommunity on ways in which it can offer hospitalityto newcomers, especially immigrants.4. Ensure that all archdiocesan educational and policy materialsdealing with social justice and outreach are availablein Spanish.Objective 6.2.3: Develop a specific pastoral plan of outreachfor Spanish-speakers who are incarcerated.Action Steps:1. Place in each detention facility in the Archdiocese ofSeattle, wherever and whenever possible, at least onepastoral minister who is fluent in Spanish and has anawareness of Hispanic cultural and religious identity.2. Utilize the pastoral and social service resources of theArchdiocese to advocate for state policies which areconducive to successful reentry after detention and toprovide services aimed at successful reentry of individualsfrom detention.Objective 6.2.4: Cultivate solidarity with the geographiccountries of origin of Hispanics in the Archdiocese of Seattle,in collaboration with the Archbishop.Lead Agents: The Missions OfficeCo-Lead Agents: Pastors, Pastoral Coordinators and DeansAction Steps:1. Coordinate efforts of Chancery offices to identify waysin which their resources and services can serve the needsand aspirations of the immigrant communities.3. Interface with the archdiocesan Communications Officein developing and pursuing a media strategy.4. Identify opportunities for different parishes and organizationsto meet and create common advocacy strategiesto maximize efforts on behalf of immigrants and theirfamilies.5. Provide parishes with the needed information to organizeeffective advocacy efforts.6. Work with Catholic Community Services to acquirefunding to develop social outreach programs for immigrants.7. Assist the Washington State Catholic Conference inadvocacy efforts for the immigrant communities withinthe State of Washington.8. Collaborate with the Washington State Catholic Conference,Catholic Communities Services and other qualifiednon-profit agencies in providing awareness workshopsand or qualified speakers for parishes on migrants,immigration reform, and legal services.9.
