A <strong>Revision</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Genus</strong> <strong>Cryptotympana</strong>. 11 23dimly appearing as shown in consanguinea.Head wide in proportion to body size, almost as wide as pronotum; frontoclypeusnarrow, depressed anteriorly, furnished with 8-9 undulating transverse striations; labiumextending to middle <strong>of</strong> metaprepisternal process; lateral dilatation <strong>of</strong> mescpimeron withrounded apex; f opercula short and oblique, somewhat angulate towards <strong>the</strong> apices (asin niasana <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> acuta group), with <strong>the</strong> outer margin oblique and slightly emarginate andwith <strong>the</strong> inner margins overlapping each o<strong>the</strong>r at <strong>the</strong> bases and obliquely straight apically;caudal margin <strong>of</strong> •£ 7th abdominal sternum widely and triangularly incised; -£ 9thtergum slender, ca 1.3X as long as wide, narrower than anterior margin <strong>of</strong> 7th sternum;forewing also very similar to that <strong>of</strong> accipiter, consanguinea, etc. <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> accipiter group, but cellCuA shorter and wider; hindwing comparatively short with cell 1A slightly wider thanCuP at <strong>the</strong> apex; vannus (cell 2A) evenly rounded towards <strong>the</strong> apex.Male genitalia (Figs. 55-56). Pyg<strong>of</strong>er oval, ca 2.1 X as long as wide with <strong>the</strong> caudalbeak very long and wide and <strong>the</strong> ventral lobes apically concealed under <strong>the</strong> ventrolateralmargin; anal stylus short; uncus lobe comparatively wide, obtusely bent at <strong>the</strong> subapex,with <strong>the</strong> apical part hardly leng<strong>the</strong>ned.Body length: 41 mm. Expanse <strong>of</strong> forewings: 118-126 mm.Distribution. Philippines: Jolo (Sulu Isls.) (Fig. 57).Distant (1906c) included South Sulawesi (Celebes) as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> type localities <strong>of</strong>this species, but specimens from this area can be identified with an independent newspecies {vide infra); suluensis is, <strong>the</strong>refore, probably endemic to <strong>the</strong> Sulu Islands (Jolo) <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Philippines.Figs. 55-56.Male genitalia (pyg<strong>of</strong>er) <strong>of</strong> C. suluensis in ventral (55) and lateral (56) views.
