Masaki (KUF).Body pitchy black, golden pilose; head black with a central anterior spoton tylus, aspot on supra-antennal plate and a spot on inner posterolateral surface of vertexcastaneous (these spots almost always disappearing in the individuals from Iriomote Is.);thoracic nota also black with a central longitudinal stripe on pronotum, much widenedposteriorly, an inner spot on posterolateral angle of pronotal collar, and a central longrhombate marking on mesonotum, widened posteriorly and hooked anterolaterally (thesespots or markings also diminished or absent rarely in the specimens from Ishigaki Is. andalways in those from Iriomote Is.); abdomen margined with dark castaneous part, withcaudal 1/3-1/2 generally castaneous in the individuals from Ishigaki.Venter of body black with lateral part of frontoclypeus (widely), mesepimeron, outerand apical parts of f operculum, lateral parts of3rd-7th abdominal sterna, outer lateralparts of 3rd-6th pleura, f 7th pleuron, most part of 8th pleuron, and 4 9th tergumexcept for the extreme inner margin, castaneous (3rd-7th sterna almost entirelycastaneous in the individuals from Ishigaki); castaneous parts variable in size, generallydeveloped in Ishigaki individuals and diminished in Iriomote ones (Fig. 185); legs darkcastaneous, with coxa, tarsus (hind tarsus often castaneous onthe subapex), and fore tibiablack.Wings hyaline, very slightly smoky basad, with the extreme bases black; basal blackpart not beyond basal cell and 1/2 the cell 1A in forewing; veins always black, partly muchinfuscated brown.Head slightly narrower than pronotum; frontoclypeus somewhat globose; lateralmargin of pronotum emarginate; mesonotum proper longer than pronotum in medianlength; central part of cruciform elevation narrower than anterior space between bothparapsidal sutures; abdomen longer than distance between head and cruciform elevation
