Criminal Records Bureau ScreeningThe Academy has an obligation to safeguard the young people in its care, therefore anyoneemployed by the Academy who either comes into contact, or works closely, with students underthe age <strong>of</strong> 18 should obtain an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau,Disclosure Scotland or other relevant overseas authority.Before embarking on the Training Programme you will be required to make an application. Wewill send you the relevant details once you are successful at the recruitment weekend stage <strong>of</strong>the application process.If you already have a recent Disclosure (or equivalent) it may not be necessary for you to makeanother application.The cost <strong>of</strong> obtaining the Disclosure is met by the applicant. The Royal Academy <strong>of</strong> Dance isbound by the CRB’s Code <strong>of</strong> Practice for Registered bodies and has a policy for the securestorage, handling, use, retention and disposal <strong>of</strong> Disclosures and Disclosure information.Copies <strong>of</strong> the Code <strong>of</strong> Practice and relevant policies are available on request from the HRDepartment.9. ReferencesYou are asked on the enclosed Application Form to supply the names and addresses <strong>of</strong> tworeferees (excluding Royal Academy <strong>of</strong> Dance Examiners) who may be contacted by theAcademy, one which is known to you in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional capacity, the other personal. We mayneed to contact these referees by phone, please ensure that nominated referees are inagreement with you supplying their details for this purpose. Referees will be contacted once thedates for the audition are confirmed. We may also ask for a reference from the RAD National orRegional <strong>of</strong>fice in your area.10. Appointment to the Panel <strong>of</strong> Examiners10.1 Examiner ContractApplicants who successfully complete the Training Programme will be issued with anAppointment to the Panel contract (renewable every 3 years) and a letter <strong>of</strong> engagement(issued on an annual basis).10.2 What will be the conditions <strong>of</strong> my appointment as an Examiner?At the beginning <strong>of</strong> your appointment there is a probationary period, which will end, once youhave successfully completed 9 weeks <strong>of</strong> Examinations (this excludes Presentation andDemonstration Classes). During this time your progress will be reviewed by the Chair <strong>of</strong> thePanel <strong>of</strong> Examiners. You will be standardised by one <strong>of</strong> our Standardisation Examiners and willhave attended one <strong>of</strong> our Examiners Standardisation Seminars. Your appointment to the Panelwill be confirmed on completion <strong>of</strong> a satisfactory probationary period.You will be expected to examine domestically (within your country <strong>of</strong> residence, if viable) andinternationally soon after you complete the training programme, so that you can put your newskills into action as soon as possible. It is a condition <strong>of</strong> your appointment to conductexamination tours, which vary in length and can be from 3 – 5 weeks duration. The AcademyFeb 2012Page 5 <strong>of</strong> 6
