If safe, release thepark brake.• Back very slowly <strong>for</strong> a very short distance while looking <strong>to</strong> the rear and steering sharply <strong>to</strong> the left <strong>to</strong>straighten out the front wheels. For this typeof park, the minimum space between you and the parked vehicles, as you approach your parkingspace, should be about two metres.Angle parkingAngle parking - right sideRight side angle parking will only apply <strong>to</strong> parking lots and designated spaces on the right side of a street.Spaces may angle from 30 <strong>to</strong> 60 degrees <strong>to</strong> the traffic lane.• Watch <strong>for</strong> vehicles backing out of nearby angle parking spaces.• Make necessary lane changes safely and signal right when approaching the space.• Keep a distance of about one and one-half metres away from the rear of the parked vehicle(s) onthe right.• Approach the space slowly and check the blind spot over the right shoulder.• Begin steering hand-over-hand <strong>to</strong> the right when the length of the left side of the parked vehicle <strong>to</strong>the right is visible.• Move at a safe and controlled speed. Check the left front <strong>to</strong> be sure there is enough space from thevehicle parked on the left.• Pay attention <strong>to</strong> the right side <strong>to</strong> clear the parked vehicle on the right.• Continue moving slowly in<strong>to</strong> the parking space, straightening the front wheels so that the vehicle iscentred and midway between the painted lines. If there are no painted lines, position the vehicle anequal distance from the other vehicles.• Remember <strong>to</strong> use proper visual technique. Keep the chin down and look <strong>for</strong> a focal point well aheadin the centre of the parking space.42
