Gifted & Talented StudentsOpportunities forGifted & Talented StudentsIf you have been identified as a Gifted & Talentedstudent by your school or college, we aim toextend your area of expertise and excellencethrough challenge, individual support andmonitoring. You will work with your PersonalTutor to set challenging targets for yourself.Lecturers will provide support to ensure you havesufficient stretch and challenge and the Gifted &Talented Co-ordinator will monitor your progress.Opportunities open to Gifted & Talentedstudents include:AQA BaccalaureateAs a Gifted & Talented student, you may want to enrol on theAQA Baccalaureate (AQA Bacc). This programme will give youthe opportunity to develop your academic ability and other skillsin more depth. Further details of the course offered by YeovilCollege can be found on page 91.Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)The EPQ is open to all students on an A Level programme.See page 91 for more information on this opportunity.AS Level Further MathsYou will be encouraged to take this subject if you are an ablemathematician. It is seen as a huge advantage in the study ofScience and Maths subjects at university. See page 85 for moredetails. Students will also have the opportunity to prepare for theAdvanced Extension paper in Maths.Elite Sports ProgrammeYeovil has an excellent reputation for identifying, nurturingand developing talented sports performers to the very highestlevels of achievement. The College programme offers elite andpotentially elite performers dedicated support, including coachingexpertise, sports science support, nutrition and medical guidancein an educational environment. Yeovil College is part of theTalented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), which providessupport and services for elite sports performers.
