Cultural Action Edenderry and Public Access ArtsThe Arts Office has facilitated an action group to increasegreater focus on the arts in Edenderry. The group havebeen looking at provision for young people, festivals and aplace/hub which can provide this dedicated focus. Arisingfrom members of this group is Public Access Arts, a smallvoluntary run centre in an empty shop on JKL St whichaims to be centre/catalyst for increase access to the arts inthe town. Its opening event in November 2012 was a‘crowded room’ of 2,000 profiles of Edenderry people.Offaly Local Authorities Annual Report 201227

Energy Management, wastewater sludgemanagement, water and wastewater quality managementand a number of other functions had cross-over betweenthe individual sections, and the amalgamation broughtthese functions into a single department with combinedadministration. The staff efficiencies generated allowedfor redeployment to the National Waste Collection PermitOffice, and creation of a post to manage and promoteenergy efficiency in the organisation.Collection Permits in February 2012. The office has beenfully staffed from existing Offaly Co. Council employeesand as the office is self financing, this is generatingsignificant savings for OCC.The National Waste Collection Permitting Office (NWCPO)was established within Offaly Co. Council as the singlenominated authority for issuing and reviewing WasteOffaly Local Authorities Annual Report 201228
