The works were completed and opened to traffic in early2012.National Roads Bridge Rehabilitation Project -Offaly County Council were the lead authority forbridges in Offaly, Laois,Carlow,Kilkenny and Meath(Allocation €100,000)The bridges in all 5 Counties were tendered under onecontract. The successful Tender was submitted by WillsBros Mayo. The County Offaly bridges included in thetender involved the total removal and replacement ofCox’s Bridge on the Clara Road Tullamore (N80) andminor improvement works were also carried out onCharlestown Bridge Clara (N80). The works werecompleted in early 2011 and the €100,000 allocation in2012 related to retention monies held back from thecontractor until the end of the defects period.1 N62 Cloghan to Ferbane €1,107,2142 N62 Derrinlough and Doon €2,564,6433 N80 (R420) Tullamore to Clara € 7 05,000TOTAL €4,376,857The Cloghan to Ferbane and the Tullamore to Claraschemes were planned, designed, tendered andsupervised by the Road Design Section of Offaly CountyCouncil. The Derrinlough and Doon schemes weredesigned by NRA consultants with the assistance of theRoad Design Section of Offaly County Council.National Roads Pavement and Minor ImprovementSchemes 2012The initial allocation under this heading from the NRA in2012 was €3,100,000. Additional funding of €1,276,857was sought and received from the NRA during 2012bringing the total allocation for 2012 to €4,376,857.
