ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTThe role of the Economic Development Office is topromote economic development in <strong>Offaly</strong> and liaisewith commercial and industrial companies looking tolocate their business in <strong>Offaly</strong>. We aim to supportsmall, medium and larger <strong>size</strong> industries withinformation, data and continuous communication.In difficult times <strong>Offaly</strong> Local Authorities has adoptedfriendly and flexible policies that assist businessesemerge and expand in our towns and across the<strong>County</strong>. Through our Development Plan and AreaPlanning instruments we encourage sustainabledevelopment of our <strong>County</strong> providing the necessaryinfrastructure to facilitate business and the socialrequirements that allow communities to prosper.(33.6 acres). The site is located adjacent the N52Tullamore By-Pass and is currently accessed besidethe Clonminch Hi-Technology Park. The block of landis in the Southern Environs Masterplan area of theTullamore Town and Environs Development Plan2010-2016.On the 28 th March 2012 William Grant and Sonsannounced they were committing their future toTullamore and constructing the proposed distillery,Working through these difficult times 2012 saw anumber of green shoots emerging on the business andemployment front.Welcome Home Tullamore DewOver the past 16 months <strong>Offaly</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> hasengaged with representatives from William Grant andSons (WGS) over the proposed distillery, visitor centreand warehousing development located in Clonminch,Tullamore. The proposed site is divided in ownershipbetween <strong>Offaly</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> (24 acres) and Coillte<strong>Offaly</strong> Local Authorities <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> 201250
