The current buildings at <strong>Pinewood</strong>, which have been developed over 76 years in response to theevolving needs of productions <strong>and</strong> tenants, total approximately 112,000 sq m (Gross ExternalArea) on a site of some 37 ha (92 acres). The premises are used by film, TV <strong>and</strong> otherproductions hired on a weekly basis, tenants on leases <strong>and</strong> PSL administration <strong>and</strong> services.They include stages, workshops <strong>and</strong> offices - some of which are multi-purpose <strong>and</strong> provideflexible space for dressing rooms, costume storage, catering areas <strong>and</strong> crowd holding areas.The <strong>Pinewood</strong> <strong>Studios</strong> production complex comprises:16 stages – ranging from 160 sq m (1,720 sq ft) to 5,430 sq m (59,000 sq ft – this being the007 stage);2 existing high definition TV studios (plus the new Camelot facility under construction);a dedicated underwater stage <strong>and</strong> an exterior tank with bluescreen;9 ha (22 acres) of backlots, the studio grounds <strong>and</strong> Heatherden Hall – which are all usedregularly for outdoor film locations;a range of buildings providing accommodation for a production’s creative, managerial,financial <strong>and</strong> manufacturing functions – including workshops, offices <strong>and</strong> storage facilities;<strong>and</strong>digital content services including picture <strong>and</strong> sound editing, preview <strong>and</strong> mixing theatres,data storage, sound transfer <strong>and</strong> picture restoration.6. In addition to the production accommodation there are also offices, workshops <strong>and</strong> otherpremises used by both PSL for their own operations <strong>and</strong> let to tenants on short, medium <strong>and</strong>longer term leases. These tenants, of which there are around 200, provide equipment, skills <strong>and</strong>services to productions.7. Based on the mix of facilities at <strong>Pinewood</strong>, the group generates income from four key sources:hire of stage <strong>and</strong> studio space <strong>and</strong> production related ancillary space for film <strong>and</strong> TVproduction;provision of a comprehensive package of support services including post production;lease-backed rental income from longer-term occupiers; <strong>and</strong>other investments including international joint ventures <strong>and</strong> film financing.8. The studios core business however is providing the required facilities to enable majorproductions to take place. Pipeline management (i.e. tracking <strong>and</strong> management of potentialproduction opportunities) is therefore critical to the business, to maximise occupancy of thefacilities <strong>and</strong> ensure the right mix is available to accommodate a range of concurrentproductions.9. <strong>Pinewood</strong> Shepperton plc (of which PSL is a subsidiary) has performed well in recent years,driven by a buoyant global market for production <strong>and</strong> content <strong>and</strong> has increased revenues from£37 million in 2007 to approximately £50 million in 2011.
