What Score or Benchmark isApplied• Every test contains error—some morethan others (reliability).• The use of a single test or benchmark todetermine responsiveness is problematic(Barth et al., 2008)• When you apply a single ―cut-point‖ to agroup of scores, there will be inaccuraciesbecause scores near the cut-point willfluctuate above and below the line withrepeated testing.
Multiple Indicators• Use confidence intervals (a range ofscores rather than a single score) andmultiple criteria, especially when RTI dataare used to help determine whether achild has a learning disability.• Continue to monitor students who exitTier 2/3 and provide ―booster‖ sessionsor return them to intervention if needed.
