DISCIPLINE HEARINGSTHE SCHOOL BOARD OF SEMINOLE COUNTYApril 26, 2010The Seminole County Public Schools Discipline Hearing Committee convened on Monday, April26, 2010 for the purpose of reviewing Administrative Assignment(s) and Expulsionrecommendations to be confirmed by Board action.Ms.Dede Schaffner, Seminole County School Board Member, was present to hear theSuperintendent’s recommendations as Hearing Officer, for the full Board. Mr. Gene Grace was inattendance to present the Superintendent’s recommendations, and Mrs. Lyn Donato waspresent, as clerk, to record recommendations.ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENTSStudents, numbered 1 ~ 9, that did not request an Alternative Assignment Review were providedto the attending board member by Mr. Grace.Superintendent’s Recommendation: Mr. Grace presented the Superintendent’s recommendationthat the Administrative Alternative Assignment(s), as presented, be accepted as a final decisionand not subject to further board action.Recommendation to the Board: Concur that the Alternative Assignment Agenda, as presented,be approved and is not subject to further board action.ALTERNATIVE ASSIGNMENT REVIEW AND EXPULSION RECOMMENDATION(S)Ms. Dede Schaffner asked the parents/guardians in attendance for students, numbered 1 through13 on the discipline hearing agenda if they preferred an open or closed hearing. Allparents/guardians in attendance requested a closed hearing with the exception of studentnumbered 9, who requested an open hearing.ASSIGNMENT REVIEW OF STUDENT NO. 1 ~ STERLING PARK ELEMENTARYSuperintendent’s Recommendation: Mr. Marty Kirsch presented the charge(s) submitted bySterling Park Elementary School and relayed the Superintendent’s recommendation that studentnumbered 1 be assigned to Hopper Alternative School through January 2011.Recommendation by Board Hearing Officer: That student numbered 1 be assigned to HopperAlternative School through August 2010. Student numbered 1 will return to zone school inAugust 2010 only if student numbered 1 attends Operation Right Track.1Page 10
