Responsible for the administration and coordination <strong>of</strong> all financial aid programs, including financial aid and debtmanagement counseling and student assistance in obtaining financial aid resources.<strong>Student</strong> Affairs Admissions Specialist (Agnes Santore, (561) 297-2202, asantore@fau.edu)Responsible for collaborating with the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment to coordinate the medicalstudent recruitment, interview, and admissions process. Assists in the maintenance <strong>of</strong> all records and statisticsrelated to applicants.Registrar (Sharon Realini, (561) 297-1010, srealini@fau.edu)Responsible for serving as custodian for all medical student records and has responsibility <strong>of</strong> maintaining the security<strong>of</strong> all such records. Other services provided include registering students in courses, transcript generation, gradeprocessing, diploma requests, degree certification and enrollment verification.Medical <strong>Student</strong> WellnessThe <strong>University</strong> provides services to help medical students become successful academically and pr<strong>of</strong>essionally. Allstudents are encouraged to take care <strong>of</strong> themselves physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually.Physical wellness is achieved by eating properly, exercising regularly, not smoking, avoiding excessive alcohol useand the use <strong>of</strong> recreational substances, and adopting healthy sleep habits. Visit the campus Recreation Center toexercise with free weights, machines, or aerobics classes. Visit the FAU <strong>Student</strong> Health Service for minor illnesses,injuries, and regular preventive care (physical exams, screening tests, and immunizations). Visit the Today andBeyond Wellness Center for a variety <strong>of</strong> health educational programs, personal consultations, computerized fitnesstesting, massage, and acupuncture, as well as workshops on all wellness topics important for all young adults.Emotional wellness can be maintained by becoming better organized, managing time well, keeping in touch withfamily and friends, managing stress well, knowing yourself, and developing meaningful personal relationships as wellas more collegial relationships with other students and faculty who could serve as tutors and mentors. All medicalstudents are encouraged to regularly visit the <strong>Student</strong> Health Services and Today and Beyond Wellness Center for avariety <strong>of</strong> programs. Keeping well spiritually is not only limited to your specific place <strong>of</strong> worship but can be defined askeeping in touch with your own inner source <strong>of</strong> strength, <strong>of</strong>ten through meditation, prayer, contemplation, andvisualization. Finally, while it is recognized that time for extracurricular activities will <strong>of</strong>ten be limited, medical studentsare encouraged to continue their personal interests, hobbies, and personal relationships while in medical school.Counseling Services for Medical <strong>Student</strong>sThe FAU COM provides all medical students with pr<strong>of</strong>essional and comprehensive counseling services. Thecounselors are dedicated to providing pr<strong>of</strong>essional and confidential personal, psychological, financial, and academiccounseling. <strong>Student</strong>s may self-refer or may be referred by family, friends, pr<strong>of</strong>essors, staff, colleagues, or other caringindividuals.The Office <strong>of</strong> <strong>Student</strong> Affairs provides counseling in three key areas that are critical to a student’s academic andpr<strong>of</strong>essional success:Personal CounselingAcademic CounselingFinancial CounselingPersonal CounselingPersonal counseling services are provided by the Counseling and Psychological Services Center.
