Three New Consultants On BoardThree new chapter consultantshave joined the headquarters staffand will be visiting chapters thisfall. They include <strong>No</strong>rman EricAllen (University of the Pacific'88), Abraham Linzy Cross (Tampa'88), and Jay Lance Peterson (MankatoState '88).Allen received a BA in politicalscience/communications from theUniversity of the Pacific this pastspring where he served as Presidentof the Associated Students. He wasalso Speaker of the Senate in 1986-87 and Speaker pro tempore in1985-86. He represented his resi-^ dential hall, thesophomore classand the juniorclass as a senatorfrom 1984-87. Heserved on numerousuniversityJI^'\L f committees in-^^ ^^***WJ^^.. eluding being the^^ m ^ ^ sole student repre-ALLEN sentative to theUniversity's executive planningcommittee.He received a <strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong>Educational Foundation Scholarshiplast year and was also electedto Mortar Board, Alpha Lambda<strong>Delta</strong> and Order of Omega. He wason the Dean's List for four semesters.In his chapter he was one of thefounding members, helped coordinatethe colonization and representedthe chapter as its officialdelegate at the Toronto Conventionin 1986. He served the chapter asalumni secretary, rush chairmanand IFC representative.He also found time to work as anassistant news director on KUOP-FM in 1987-88. He was a residentassistant from 1985 to 1987 andsold advertising for the studentnewspaper from 1984-86.Cross received a BA in UrbanAffairs with a minor in criminologyfrom Tampa this spring. He won aUniversity Educational Scholarshipand a Resident Assistant Scholarship.He earned 75% of his collegeexpense through part-time and summerwork.He served his chapter as vicepresident and president and alsoserved on the judicialreview boardof the IFC. Hewas president ofthe Resident HallAssociation andplayed on the varsitytennis team.He worked as aresident assistant,CROSS an urban planner'sassistant in his hometown ofJacksonville and as assistant managerof Chess King, Inc. in Tampa.Peterson received a BA in speechcommunications from Mankato thisspring. He also received a BS inbusiness administration with a concentrationon marketing. He finishedwith a 3 pt. grade average ona 4 pt. system and financed 70% ofhis educational expenses.He received a Mayo FoundationScholarship from 1983-88 and wasnamed Who's Who in AmericanCo//e^ej for 1988.In his chapter he was alumnisecretary, chaplain / chorister,awards chairman, scholarship chairman,treasurerand president. HePETERSENrepresented thechapter at the TorontoConvention.He also was vicepresident of theIFC and was amember of thestudent senate. Hewas active in colandtwice was alege forensicscompetitor at national conventions.He worked at the Mayo Clinic inJacksonville, FL, and also served asa speech coach for a declamation/Speech team at Lake Crystal HighSchool, MN. Ohio Lambda At Kent State Re-InstalledBY FELIX OTERO, JR.The Ohio Lambda Chapter of<strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> Fraternity was reinstatedat Kent State University onSaturday, April 30.A crowd of approximately 75alumni, family and friends gatheredat the Newman Center to see FrankAbernathy present Kevin Grosswith the Charter. Kevin summed upeveryone's feelings about initiationand installation by saying "This iswhat we've worked so hard for."Initiation took place the precedingevening at the United MethodistChurch of Kent. Abernathy andBob Biggs, Director of ChapterServices, actives and alumni fromAkron University, Case WesternReserve, University of Pittsburg,and the University of Ontario participatedand witnessed the ceremony.Ohio Lambda had previouslybeen a chapter at Kent, butdue to the difficulties at Kent in1970, <strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> Fraternityleft the campus, along with most ofthe other Greek organizations.Membership at Ohio Lambda dissipatedas did that of other fraternitiesas a result of the turmoil.In the Spring of 1987, Gross, abrother from the University ofRichmond, Virginia began to reorganize<strong>Phi</strong> <strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> in DunbarHall, a residence hall at Kent StateUniversity. On May 4, 1987, wewere recognized as a colony by <strong>Phi</strong><strong>Delta</strong> <strong>Theta</strong> and Kent State UniversityInter-Fraternity Council.Fall Semester began the work tofulfill requirements needed for reinstallation.We acquired our houseat 323 E. College Street, and beganworking on improving it.Our Fall 1987 Colony PledgeClass had seven members whileSpring 1988 had 15 members. In all34 new initiates and two activescurrently make up Ohio Lambda.The brothers are as follows: ErikAndryszak, Robert Barthelman, DavidBoUenbacher, William Boschert,Shawn Boysko, Rene Bradshaw,Jeffrey Bukala, Jim Davis, JeffreyDiday, Gregory Elliot, MichaelFerrante, Stephen A. Fowler, SeanGorby, Eric Gorze, Kevin Gross,John Hemmeter, Jim Jacobsen,Jim Jamieson, Michael Janowick,Douglas Koenig, Mark Koenig,Thomas Kondash, Paul Kosubinsky,David Lembo, Emmanuel Likakis,David Leichty, Charles Mayer,Randy Mellon, Felix Otero,Thomas Persinger, Christian <strong>Phi</strong>llips,Pat Picciano, Michael Pies,Kevin Scherry, Timothy Strickland,and Scott Valore.After the installation, the newlyactivated brothers hosted a luncheonto honor Gross and FelixOtero for their leadership and toshow our appreciation to RobEberly, our colony adviser, for hishelp and guidance. After the banqueteveryone was invited back tothe Ohio Lambda house so thenewly activated members couldmeet the alumni that attended theinitiation and installation. Therewas also a special toast for colonymember Joseph H.
