Over 40 MetropolitanWashington, D.C. Phis met in theHouse Members' Dining Room for an informalevening of good fellowship. Brothersfrom the House who joined us were RepresentativeDoug Barnard, GA 10th (Mercer'43), Representative Joel Hefley, CO 5th(Oklahoma State '59), and RepresentativeJim Slattery, KA 2nd (Washington '70).Our event coincided with the final sessionof the "Economic Summit" negotiations overa tax bill and the halls were filled with jointcommittee members, staffers and a throng ofmedia personnel — our reception area was agreat place from which to view the action.
