DOD <strong>and</strong> the militaryservices must approve all requests <strong>for</strong> this benefit. Members of theArmed Forces approved <strong>for</strong> the TOE may only transfer any unusedportion of their Post – 9/11 GI Bill benefits while a member of theArmed Forces, subject to their period of eligibility.Yellow Ribbon G.I. Education Enhancement Program: wasenacted to potentially assist eligible individuals with payment of theirtuition <strong>and</strong> fees in instances where costs exceed the most expensivein-state undergraduate tuition at a public institution of higher education.To be eligible, the student must be: a veteran receiving benefitsat the 100% benefit rate payable, a transfer-of-entitlement eligibledependent child, or a transfer-of-entitlement eligible spouse of aveteran. The school of attendance must have accepted VA’s invitationto participate in the program, state how much student tuition willbe waived (up to 50%) <strong>and</strong> how many participants will be acceptedinto the program during the current academic year. VA will match theschool’s percentage (up to 50%) to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocketcosts <strong>for</strong> eligible participants.Work-Study Program: <strong>Veterans</strong> <strong>and</strong> eligible transfer-of-entitlementrecipients who train at the three-quarter rate of pursuit or highermay be eligible <strong>for</strong> a work-study program in which they work <strong>for</strong> VA<strong>and</strong> receive hourly wages.
