Figure 7.4.3:OMCVD FAB development worldwide.Increasing efficacy of HB LEDs also allows for smaller (cheaper) cooling systems. Huge investments to OMCVD (Organo-Metallic Chemical Vapor-phase Deposition) technologies confirm aforementioned expectation (Figure 7.4.3).Year Volume Fabs Capacity(200 mm eq. w/m)America33320013442.219Europe / Mid.East124China6Taiwan13200759107.28815223638S.Korea4Japan7892011105> 375.000S.E. Retrofit is first stage in LEDbasedluminaire evolution.Different technologies ask for different approach to construction, optics, thermal management, and electronic solution. Therefore replacement of standard light sources by LED retrofits using original lighting fixture does not deliver expectedsolution, only interim one.LED retrofits are comparable to the first car (Figure 7.5.1). You can drive it but with a lot of compromises. Better cars(adequate LED luminaires) are arriving right after - no compromises, just satisfaction. We can reach highest light quality standard with LED technology only via interconnected and well-done optical, thermal, and electronic design during luminaire development (Figure 7.5.2).RETROFITSFigure 7.5.2:Well-done optical, thermal, and electronicdesign of LED luminaire providesstarting point on a way to the highestlight quality standard.OPTICAL DESIGNELECTRONIC DESIGNTHERMAL DESIGNLightQualityStandardMAIN FEATURES:• High system efficacy• High CRI• Various Stabilized CCTs• Low Glaring Rates• Dimming Possibilities• Long Lifetime• Durability43
