20 BUSINESS STRATEGIST “R&D is a very integral part of the opto electronic industry. We believe investment in R&D would enable us to roll out newer products in the market. Last year, we launched three products and they received a favorable response from customers. This year too, we are looking at launching three to four products with an addressable market of US$0.5-1bn.” “Eurocor is a very significant acquisition for the company. Opto started its operations in the USA through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mediaid Inc. since 2002. Mediaid has an established distribution network across US, Latin America and Europe. With over 170 distributors Mediaid Inc. helps in distributing Opto's products. Furthering its reach Opto opened offices in Singapore, Malaysia & Far East with the help of its subsidiary Mediaid Inc. also present in Singapore. Apart from this, Mediaid Inc. also has branches in Germany & Dubai. Through these offices Mediaid Inc. has formed a network of distributors in each place. Thus making the presence of Opto & its products felt in this part of the globe. Opto acquired Eurocor in 2005. Eurocor currently sells its products in over 36 countries around the world. Eurocor's manufacturing and R&D facilities are based out of Bonn, and it has marketing offices in France and Poland. This distribution network has spread Opto's reach in Europe & neighboring countries. Opto will continue to increase its geographical spread & will also focus on inorganic growth plans, wherein it can acquire companies in the healthcare domain, which share the same values & vision of Opto.
