OTI Continues its Growth in Russian Market
Odeon Tours International
(OTI)
CEO Ayhan Bektas
organized a
press conference
last week at Feriye
Restaurant to inform
about their operations.
Bektas stated that there is an increase of
30% in number of Russian tourists visiting
Antalya and the pie of Turkish tour ope-
Expedia.com(R), the world’s leading online
travel provider, introduced the latest
issue of its quarterly report, Expedia Travel
Trendwatch(TM). In it, Expedia found
that travelers are taking the tough summer
season in stride as their desire for relaxing
and restorative vacations outweighs
the potential delays or problems that
can occur during peak travel season. In
fact, a July Expedia.com poll (1) found
68 percent of U.S. adults who have taken
or plan to take a summer vacation
this year will not modify their vacation
plans because of negative news around
air travel hassles and rising prices. Additionally,
an Expedia.de poll of hoteliers
across Europe found Americans to be
overall good tourists exhibiting such traits
as generosity and willingness to try local
cuisine. On the flip side, we received
poor marks for our fashion sense, hotel
room cleanliness and being very noisy.
“It’s encouraging to see that despite the
tough travel environment, vacationers are
still hitting the roads and skies this summer,”
said Chris McGinnis , editor, Expedia
Travel Trendwatch. “The tradition
of summer vacation remains ingrained in
the American psyche and travelers are
rolling with the punches this year. They
are finding some surprises like lower
airfares, warm welcomes overseas and
new tools like user-generated content sites
to help make better travel decisions.”
Key travel trends and data as reported
in the current issue of the Expedia
Travel Trendwatch(TM) include:
1) Summer travel update; air,
hotel, cruise and car rentals
rators in Russian market reached 70%.
Bektas added that their expectations
from German and European market
didn’t meet with what they have planned.
Numbers stay same as last year.
However compensation of European market
came with the growing numbers of
travel from Russia and OECD countries.
Bektas stated that they have met with
their expectations in national travel
with 30-40% early reservations made.
Caravan Tourism Gets
Popular in Cappadocia
The number of camping sites allocated
to caravans have been gradually
increasing in Cappadocia region,
which is one of the most renowned cultural
and natural tourist hubs in Turkey.
The camping centres, which spread
over on a 7,000 sq.m. area, offer many
services such as parking lots, showers,
pools, toilets, electricity and water for
both local and foreign tourists who
visit the region with their caravans.
By paying a fee of 5-15 EUR, visitors
can benefit from all the facilities at these
sites which are also open to campers
who would like to pitch up tents.
According to sources, many caravanners
from Germany, France, Czech Republic,
Hungary and Italy prefer Cappadocia
region for their camping holidays.
