Turkey Advertising Tender on Sept. 28<br />

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism<br />

will receive tender proposals in order<br />

to carry out the advertising campaigns abroad<br />

in 2008 in conjunction with a promotional/marketing<br />

strategy.In order to<br />

improve the image of Turkey as a tourist<br />

destination and increase its market share<br />

within the international tourism market,<br />

the Ministry wishes to carry out advertising<br />

campaigns and determine where it is<br />

considered appropriate by the Ministry.<br />

The advertisement campaigns should promote<br />

Turkey’s well-preserved natural beauty,<br />

rich history and historical sites; within<br />

aspects of the 13 main civilizations and<br />

3 major religions, which lived in Turkey,<br />

and which form Turkey’s historical values,<br />

geographic location, culture values,<br />

gastronomy, accommodation, shopping,<br />

entertainment, transportation facilities.<br />

The advertisement campaign should also<br />

promote congress and incentive travel,<br />

thermal-health, and eco-tourism. Accordingly,<br />

the Ministry of Culture and Tourism<br />

wishes to receive proposals, in line<br />

with its promotion/ marketing strategy<br />

and within the attached budgets. These<br />

will be assessed and the proposal(s),<br />

which are deemed to be suitable, will be<br />

carried out.<br />

the Description of the Agency; and the<br />

Budget Allocation for these promotional<br />

campaigns can be obtained from the<br />

The project proposals of domestic companies should be delivered by hand to the<br />

Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ankara, whereas those of foreign companies<br />

should be delivered by mail, courier or delivered by hand to the Ministry. Proposed<br />

projects including advertising and marketing activities (The elaboration and<br />

application of sample media plans through creative work) can be proposed for<br />

one of the target market country groups designated by the Ministry, or more than<br />

one of the groups or for all of them.<br />

Istanbul International Sand Sculptures Festival<br />

Three Turkish nights will be organized within<br />

the scope of the festival that will take<br />

place between September 24th and November<br />

4th, 2007. Seven Turkish specialities,<br />

including hot meals, meals cooked<br />

with olive oil and served cold, and desserts<br />

will be served to 150 senior guests<br />

in the first event. In the other two events in<br />

which 1,000 people will be hosted, only<br />

wine and a special meal will be offered.<br />

Meanwhile, Turkish food will be introduced<br />

to the Americans between October<br />

25th and November 5th. Turkish authorities<br />

have contacted U.S. executives to serve<br />

Maras ice cream (a special ice cream produced<br />

in southeastern city of Gaziantep,<br />

thickened and enriched with salep --orchis<br />

roots power-- which gives the ice cream<br />

a very nice taste; it is also beaten with a<br />

paddle). Also, Turkish folk dance groups<br />

will perform shows during the festival. This<br />

year’s promotion theme will be Cappadocia<br />

where is famous with its fairy chimneys<br />

and churches. The Turkish stand will be<br />

prepared according to this theme.<br />

World’s Biggest Hot Air Balloon in Nevsehir<br />

World’s biggest hot air balloon<br />

has started to serve in Turkish central<br />

Anatolian city of Nevsehir. The balloon<br />

was produced for Turkish Uluer Aviation<br />

Company in Britain. It can carry 36<br />

people and reach 2,000 meters high.<br />

Halil Uluer, Chairman of Uluer Aviation<br />

Company, said that the balloon was<br />

produced in 8 months, and it is the biggest<br />

hot air balloon of the world.<br />

Uluer said that before their balloon<br />

was produced, world’s biggest hot air<br />

balloon was in Egypt and it can carry<br />

30 people. He added that both foreign<br />

and Turkish tourists show great interest<br />

towards tour with hot air balloons over<br />

Cappadocia region of Nevsehir.
