The success depends on variousfactors, the most important being: vision and goodideas, knowledge and innovation, flexibility, linkingand a good team spirit. These are the main factors thatwe make use of in our company for the developmentof high-tech products and processes in the existingand new market niches. Only those products, whichincorporate a high level of knowledge and areproduced from most advanced materials, can assurea competitive advantage, higher added value andlong-term development of a company.Only the products, whichincorporate comprehensiveknowledge and are made ofmost advanced materials,bring a competitive advantage,higher added value andlong-term developmentfor the company.R&D InstituteThe company collaborates in associations which linkthe industry and academic institutions. The companyis a founding member of the Technology Networkfor Intelligent Polymer Materials and RelatedTechnologies Manufuture.si (applied technologiesof the future), NaMat (nanomaterials, nano-productsand nano-technologies), STTP (Slovene TextileTechnology Platform) and SloKem (Slovene ChemicalPlatform).R&D Institute of Savatech is registered with ARRS(Slovenian Research Agency) as a research unit in theindustrial sector. Owing to its internal developmentresearchnetwork it is one of the mainstays of theexpertise in the field of polymer materials andtechnologies in Slovenia. R&D Institute is equippedwith the advanced R&D equipment for a virtualdevelopment of new products and laboratoryequipment for chemical and physical characterisationand management of polymer materials processing.As of January 2005, the central laboratory within theR&D Institute has been accredited as an authorisedlaboratory in conformity with the standard SIST ISOEN 17025, which offers its services on the market too.Development of new project,equipment and servicesBeing aware of the fact that only high added valueproducts assure a long-term growth of the company,we intensified in 2010 our work in the field ofdevelopment and technology exactness of products.It is our goal to develop from a provider of productsand services to a provider of comprehensive solutionson a turn-key basis. We have already provided suchservices in the existing and new market niches. Theareas of rapid development are the renewable energysources, army, rescue operations and medicine.Our goalis to offercomprehensivesolutionsTechnologicallyperfected productswith high addedvalue will securea long-termgrowth of thecompany. It is ourgoal to providecomprehensiveturnkey solutionsand not justproducts.32
ANNUAL REPORT 2010 ∂ BUSINESS REPORTDevelopmentand marketingof newproductsWe continued todevelop productsfor new applicationsand market niches,which we estimateas having thepotential.In order to accelerate the development of productsin new market niches, the R&D incorporates a teamfor research and development. The team membersdeveloped several products up to the prototypephase for use in medicine and renewable energysources. Together with the Profiles programme theteam developed low-friction profiles used in windmills,and with the Conveyor Belts programme itdeveloped belts with a self-cleaning function.In the Mixing Plant programme we carried out 20development tasks, introduced 61 new compoundcodes and 78 codes for rubber sheets. 35 new rawmaterials were introduced in order to develop newcompounds and improve the price-quality ratio.The greatest achievement of Conveyor Beltsprogramme is the development of a sheet whosestructure consists of reinforcement-EPDMreinforcement-silicone.Another considerableachievement was the development of a belt witha Teflon foil on the upper cover and a technologyprocedure for the manufacture of 11 parallel beltsof 60 mm in width and a moulded edge. Incooperation with the Print programme we developedan EPDM reinforced plate that is 2,400 mm wide.manufactured on a turn-key basis, and high-pressurepackers for use in non-centric drill-holes. Wedeveloped a set of high-capacity pneumatic plugs upto diameters of 1000-2400mm. We also developeda set of containers for NATO and a set of packers forrehabilitation of lateral pipes leading to main sewagepipes. We introduced new high-frequency weldingmachine for PVC and TPU fabric and for hot-airwelding.The Velo programme, which offers a very wide rangeof highly marketable products, was expanded with9 sizes of scooter tyres. We developed 4 sizes ofmotorcycle tyres to complement the offer of roadand off-road tyres. On order by a new customer,we developed 2 new dimensions of go-kart tyres.The development activities in diagonal technologyfocused on improvements in driving characteristics oftyres, quality and yield, increase in productivity andsimpler work of all employees. The development ofradial tyres is of significance too.The GTI - Moulded Products programme launchesmany new products, we would especially like to pointout a new foldable breather with a filter. We carriedout extensive development activities for multi-phasematerials (rubber-metal- products plastic) mainlyfor the car industry, at which we introduced virtualdevelopment of products in regular use.Encourage innovation,continual improvementsprocess, 20 Keys projectCreativity which leads to innovation is hidden in everyperson and is one of the fundamental characteristicsof a human being, which needs be - similar as talentsIn 2010, the development in the Profiles programmewas remarkable. We continued the manufactureof profiles for solar applications, and selected andordered equipment for the manufacture of final sealingframes. We managed to meet customer enquires asthey came, and fulfilled their special requirements interms of development, thereby providing support tothe sales service at its fast response to enquiries. Gooddevelopment and sales services have resulted in ahighest share of new products (29.4%) in total sales.We actively engaged in educating new personneland maintenance of machinery and equipment.The key development-technology policy of the Printprogramme was to optimise the already developedproducts and increase the volume of production,in particular coating and curing. We optimised themanufacture of self-adhesive products and changedthe construction of products for web printing.The EKO programme was highly innovative andflexible, especially in the segment of rubber weirsAlmost sixdecades ofsystematicinnovationWe are a communityof professional,creative and loyalassociates.
