ANNUAL REPORT <strong>2010</strong> ∂ SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTWe organised work placements, practical trainingfor vocation for students; 5,392 hours were made intotal.CommunicationIn the past, we introduced a standardised approachto communication. We devoted special attentionto arranging communication tools and channels,direct communication with key target groups andthe contents. We continued to communicate ourvalues that we presented our associates throughvarious forms of communication. We concentratedon the contents in written internal communications:Sava newspaper, Informator and Sav~ek bulletins,notice boards, e-mails and website, intranet site. Westrengthened personal communication too. Associatescan directly communicate with management in allcompanies. Regular working meetings are an alreadywell-establish way of communicating where we cananalyse, make new proposals and ideas to achieveeven better results. We continued and strengthenedcommunication with workers’ representatives.In meetings of workers’ representatives, current topicsare dealt with which relate to all employees, weexplain adopted decisions, business processes andare open to all questions, initiatives and proposals. Atleast once a year, we organise workers’ assemblies, atwhich we provide information about operations andother current issues of interest for all employees.Family-friendly company projectWe are aware of the importance of the balancebetween the professional career and family life, aswell as of the social responsibility to our employeesand a wider community. As one of the first Slovenecompanies we joined the Family-friendly companyproject in 2007 and on the basis of the introducedmeasures we received the basic certificate. In athree-year period we introduced adopted measuresand after receiving a positive opinion from the auditcouncil we obtained a full certificate in December<strong>2010</strong>.In addition to the already established measures,which are well-known to and utilised by ourassociates, we introduced five new measures toextend the certificate validity for the next-three yearperiod: 12 bonus hours for parents in the week whenchildren go to the nursery school for the first time,summer holidays at the seaside for children fromsocially deprived families, New Year’s celebration forchildren, a reward for newborn children, scholarshipsfor children whose parents passed away.In June <strong>2010</strong>, we prepared the first common event foremployees and their closer family members, a FamilyDay. With this event we marked the 90 th anniversaryof Sava, people got together and enjoyed in sportsand fun games. Other measures such as an additionalday off for the parents of first-formers, recreation foremployees and their closer family members, utilisingTourism capacities at affordable prices, discounts forvarious products and services, are well known andutilised by our associates.FamilyfriendlycompanyAfter three yearsof successfuloperation inaccordance withthe set guidelines,we receiveda full familyfriendlycompanycertificate.In April <strong>2010</strong>, we measured the organisationalclimate in the company and the results showed thatour associates appreciated opportunities provided byindividual measures.44
ANNUAL REPORT <strong>2010</strong> ∂ SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT2.Concern foremployee healthand safety at workWe assure our employees a safe working environment.Therefore we voluntarily decided to introduce andcertify a systematic approach to occupational healthand safety management in compliance with theinternational standard OHSAS 18001. We incorporatemost recent findings with regard to occupationalhealth and safety and fire safety in all new investmentprojects. We monitor accidents and health disordersrisk in all work places. Work-related accidents withinjuries are decreased with a systematic preventiveapproach and a systematic detection of dangerousoccurrences.Number of work-relatedaccidents with injuries2016181916128469020062007 2008 2009 <strong>2010</strong>We devote much attention to regular education,raising awareness and anticipation of incidents.The fundamental intent of education and raisingawareness is a continual flow of information fromoccupational health and safety area. We strive forstimulating the commitment of employees for theirown safety and taking care of working and livingenvironment, therefore we have introduced specialpreventive campaigns such as March- A Month ofSafety, and October – A Month of Fire Safety.Assuring a safe and healthy working place is anecessity for a successful work of every individual andthe company as a whole, and one of the fundamentalvalues in the company.We assure our employees asafe working environment.We minimise risks forappearance of accidentsand health disorders, andconsider most recent findingsin occupational health andsafety area.45
