Sea Isle Garden <strong>Club</strong>by Caron MountSea Isle Garden <strong>Club</strong> Members getting ready <strong>for</strong> their Luau Fund RaiserSea Isle Garden <strong>Club</strong> memberscelebrated another year of success at theInstallation Luncheon in May at BahiaCorinthian <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>. Dorothy Ralphsinstalled officers <strong>for</strong> <strong>2010</strong>-2011: JanetLittlejohn, President, Anne Blayden, VicePresident Membership, Carolyn Platt, VPPrograms, Mary Ann Brinket, VP Waysand Means, Dorothy Ralphs, VP ProjectLiaison, Cindy Allen and Susan La Pittus,Secretary, Carolyn Lloyd, Treasurer, andTerry Hayden, Parliamentarian. Janetthanked all her outgoing officers <strong>for</strong> ajob well done. She then announced herChairpersons <strong>for</strong> next year: DorothyRalphs, Donor Recognition, CathyKelly and Lucille Mascoli, Hospitality,Caron Mount, Newsletter, Donna Davis,Publicity, Jackie Neil and Maria Lockie,Telephone. After all the <strong>for</strong>malities werecompleted, members and guests enjoyedour specially selected luncheon of eitherCobb Salad or Chicken/PortobelloSandwich with fruit. At the end of the luncheonmembers enthusiastically recommittedthemselves to work together on the bestLuau ever seen in <strong>Huntington</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong>.Our successful year has been highlightedby the progress on the EdingerParkway. The roadside is just about ready<strong>for</strong> over 9,100 plants and trees, whichwill make a magnificent drive toward the1,000 homes along Edinger. The SIGChas the community to thank <strong>for</strong> contibutingclose to $200,000 over the last sevenyears. The most recent event was the LuauFun(d) Raiser on May 21st, which showedhow Sea Isle made fund raising fun. Therewere so many people who were willing tounderwrite the costs. Extra special thanksgo to Churee Kakimoto, Lauren Scott andStar Real Estate <strong>for</strong> their sponsorship ofthe fabulous Polynesian food provided byTeak Productions. Their Ribs, pineappleChicken, rice, tasty pupus and Bananasflambe were so beautifully presented. Avery special thanks also goes to BeverlyAllen <strong>for</strong> her very generous donation. Theevening ended with a rousing polynesianshow, four beautiful girls and six littledancers (children about 6 and 7 years old)who thrilled the crowd with their huladancing.Sea Isle Garden <strong>Club</strong> has continuedto explore and apply <strong>for</strong> other sources offunds to help with this project, such asthe Project Achievement Award, whichwill be decided by the <strong>Huntington</strong> BeachEnvironmental Board. The City is lookingat projects which have an impact onconserving our natural resources. OurEdinger project has a solar-powered irrigationsystem and drought resistant plants,which qualifies it <strong>for</strong> consideration.Our club is always welcoming newmembers, and we have so much fun at ourmonthly meetings. In April, our programwas presented by hostess Dorothy Ralphs,who demonstrated how clay pots can bedecorated <strong>for</strong> any special occasion.If you are interested in joining SeaIsle Garden <strong>Club</strong>, please call MembershipVice President, Anne Blayden at 714-840-7889.
