Based on how the economyhas <strong>for</strong>ced diminished membership inCountry <strong>Club</strong>s as well as <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>sthroughout the country, we had set oursights lower <strong>for</strong> this season only to fi ndour membership increasing with predominantlyyounger people. Just this lastmonth 19 new people now call HHYCtheir new <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, Welcome!Our First Mate Boating seminarwas a huge success and will be the seedevent <strong>for</strong> future boating classes whichwill include boat handling, Mexico cruising,Boat safety and much more. I wouldagain, like to thank our 20+ instructors(all members) that worked so hard teachingthe seven courses. It was a long day<strong>for</strong> them but I know they took muchpride at graduation that night watchingthe students receive their fi rst boatingdiplomas.Our <strong>Huntington</strong> Beach SailingFoundation (a 501 c3) has so far receiveda significant amount of donationsthat have far exceeded or expectationsfrom all over the <strong>Harbour</strong> through ourfundraisers. A special thanks to Lloydand Colleen Clauss, Tom Golden, JanetHonaker and the many volunteers thatput on the Cinco de Mayo party andSailing foundation Fundraiser. A specialthanks to the energetic <strong>Huntington</strong><strong>Harbour</strong> Rod & Reel club that workedso unselfi shly <strong>for</strong> the Kids sailing cause,they are truly a class act and great friendsof our club.Coming June 5th Dog DayAfternoon our fi rst dog show open to thepublic enter your dog and win big! <strong>Yacht</strong>dog of the year, best legs, best smile,highest jumper just to name a few.Our coming cruises include ourMay 20 – 23 to the Isthmus then over toAvalon <strong>for</strong> dinner at the famed CatalinaIsland <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, followed by a DingyParade and miniature golf tournament.This is just the beginning we have manymore cruises to the Island and up anddown the coast. Come join us!Our Sunday brunch the fi rst threeSundays of the month have, and willcontinue to be a great way to introducenew members to our club.
