TheDepartment of Safety and Security exists toprovide a safe, secure environment thatrespects and encourages freedom ofexpression, the safe movement of people, andthe protection of life and property within allboth Campuses.Safety and Security offers the followingservices to the University Community:· Security and access controlservices to UL facilities· Law enforcement· Crime prevention and crimeresponse· Safety and emergency responseservices· Ambulance services· Public safety services during ULeventsThe safety and security is extremely ourpriority at UL. Safety and Security Departmentin partnership with Mafoko Security atTurfloop Campus and Sidas Security atMedunsa Campus render 24 hour securityservices to UL Community. Private securitycompanies provide 24 hour access control atall main gates and hall residences. Trainedsecurity guards (in access-control procedureand general security practices) are deployedin all strategic areas to maintain safety andsecurity of University Community. Thedivision also ensure that Security officersroutinely patrol the Campuses 24 hours.For easy access to the University facilities,Safety and Security is responsible for theissuing of both students and employees cards.You are required to carry your card every timeyou leave your room to library or exit theCampus as they are used for the identificationpurposes.
