CLUB SCENEStaff Day 2011For the first time in many years, thestaff of Jurong Country Club did notget the chance to party at a dinnerand dance.Instead, they had to cross waters totrek through Ancient Egypt to a landFar Far Away, escape Madagascarand discover a Lost World wheredinosaurs roamed. Lucky onesgot zapped into New York City ortransported to the Hollywood Walk ofFame, and valiant troops of staff werefound trapped in Sci-Fi City, battlinga never-ending clash between theHumans and Cylons on the BattlestarGalactica. For those who bravedthe perils, some stood conquerors,while the unfortunate few had to beferried away from the testing land ofUniversal Studios Singapore, Sentosa.All these in a day’s “work”, as JurongCountry Club celebrated their annualstaff day at – of all places – the OasisSpice Cafe in Universal StudiosSingapore on 28 February. InsideUniversal Studios, those presentenjoyed the sights, sounds, rides upand-down,and 3D shows soonest asthe studio opened at 10am right uptill dinner time at 5pm.The event was not only attended by135 staff but by some members ofthe General Committee, and it wasonce again another tremendoussuccess thanks to the efforts ofthe Staff Organising Committee.Dinner was a rare treat ofspecialty dishes from Egypt, andnine staff were rewarded for theirdedication and loyalty for havingserved the Club between 10 and 30years. Mohamad Taha and AdamNoor Mohamed were the recipientof the 30 years’ long service award.4All staff got home with door gifts,and some very lucky ones withattractive lucky draw prizes. Thetop lucky draw prize of a 40” LCDtelevision set went to housekeepingattendant Fatimah Satali.jurong country club
