The Alpine Club of celebrates Canadian mountain culture<br />

through the presentation of literature, art, history and<br />

heritage, mountain related science, and the exchange of<br />

ideas with other organizations in the mountain community.<br />

Currently under the direction of John Goulart, BVC has<br />

been performing in the Bow Valley since 1999. Productions<br />

have included Mozart´s Requiem, Handel´s Messiah,<br />

Mozart´s Great Mass in C Minor, John Rutter´s Requiem.<br />

Fundraising concerts every spring and fall.<br />

Non-profit, volunteer-run, registered Society that provides a<br />

voice for the arts in Canmore and the Bow Valley.<br />

Objectives include: to celebrate and raise the profile of the<br />

arts, create opportunities for the arts, artists, audiences &<br />

participants, represent the diverse interests and needs of a<br />

vibrant arts community, and provide a focus for policies and<br />

issues affecting the cultural sector.<br />

CAAG´s mandate is to stimulate activities in all creative<br />

visual arts and provide the vehicle to make the artist and<br />

artisan visible in the community, to encourage and promote<br />

professional exhibitions, amateur shows, and to create<br />

workshops to heighten the awareness of the creative visual<br />

arts. The gallery is located in the Canmore Public Library<br />

building.<br />

Seniors’ Association offering a variety of seasonal activities<br />

and resources for seniors, including the "Songsters" seniors<br />

singing group, card games, socials, teas, excercise<br />

classes, various sports. Meanderthals hiking group self<br />

guides small groups all summer.<br />

Literary Kaleidoscope in the Bow Valley follows the<br />

program for Calgary’s Literary Kaleidoscope, and presents<br />

a condensed program in spring and fall featuring great<br />

book discussions in Canmore. Contact Vi Sandford for<br />

information and updates via email.<br />

Mandate: To provide opportunities for community service<br />

through guild activities by members who meet and share<br />

their love of quilting; to teach and promote quilting, to<br />

present quilting shows and exhibitions.<br />

Community amateur theatre. No experience necessary.<br />

Produce two main stage presentations per year. Active in<br />

theatre production and related activities. Presence in<br />

Canmore and the Bow Valley since 1978. Over 120<br />

members. Other activities as available, year round<br />

schedule, call for details.<br />
