A free film festival featuring a variety of films focused on
social and environmental justice themes, followed by
discussions led by community leaders, the festival provides
opportunities for education, reflection and action.
An exhibition by the youth of Canmore. Kid’s Art is not a
competition, rather a celebration of the creative efforts of
young members of our community. Artwork created by
youth aged 4- 12. Runs every winter -- watch for
submission details.
The Canmore coal mines closed on Friday, July 13 th , 1979,
and in celebration and recognition of the miners and their
families, Miners’ Day occurs on the closest Saturday to July
13 each year. A parade starts at noon at the NWMP
Barracks, followed by a free barbecue lunch in front of the
museum.
Ring in the New Year with friends and family - warm
yourself by the fire, enjoy music and entertainment, lace
up your skates and take a turn around the ice… there´ll be
hot dogs and hot chocolate… and fireworks! At 9:30 p.m.
a series of loud star bursts will draw all eyes to the north
end of the pond. Midnight Fireworks at Millennium Park.
Every June, at the Fairmont Banff Springs, the Banff World
Television/nextMEDIA Festival honours the best in
television with its Rockie Awards. International program
buyers, network executives, distribution companies and
independent producers attend the four day event to seek
business and creative opportunities.
Presented by the Canadian Mountain Arts Foundation,
this annual band festival takes place in mid-November.
Founded in 1995 and named after long-time Canmore
musician, Vic Lewis. Canmore plays host to 800-1,000
young musicians in a weekend of concert band and jazz
band performances, workshops and clinics with esteemed
conductors and clinicians.
Held annually in the month of February, Canmore’s
Winter Carnival has indoor and outdoor fun in store for
every member of the family. From ice carving to log
sawing, ice hockey to musical concerts, performances and
dances to art openings, skating and family fun - everyone
in Canmore can find a way to have fun and keep warm
during Canmore’s Winter Carnival.
