Cash Management and Investments. The intention of the cash management system is to limitthe amount of funds placed in accounts where low or no interest is paid. Idle cash is invested invarious instruments with various maturity dates, depending on the anticipated future cashrequirements.The overall strategy of holding deposits and making investments is to expose the District to aminimum amount of credit and market risks. All bank balances, as of the balance sheet date,are entirely insured by Federal depository insurance and/or collateralized with securities held inFlorida‟s multiple financial institution collateral pool as required by Chapter 280, FloridaStatutes.Risk Management. The District is self-insured for workers‟ compensation, general andautomobile liability, and prescription drug claims, with outside contractors providing variousadministrative services. All funds make payment to the District‟s applicable Internal ServiceFund based upon personnel staffing levels, number of vehicles, or square feet. Resources havebeen accumulated in order to meet potential losses.Page 8
