ω ω ω ω ω ω Panyappi Indigenous Youth Mentoring Program Evaluation Further explore, document and evaluate this approach to assist in understanding its impact on program outcomes, and as a contribution to the literature on youth mentoring programs. Recommendation 6: Evaluation Include a budget for evaluation in any future funding of Panyappi as it is a unique program in Australia - there are few independently evaluated youth mentoring programs and none have been both Indigenous run and focused apart from Panyappi. Develop an appropriate evaluation framework that: � tracks changes in offending behaviour by the client group over time, � accounts for other contributing factors, and � uses a consistent and agreed method of defining offending behaviour with a reliable system of recording it that has the cooperation and support of relevant government departments or agencies. Recommendation 7: Encouraging future Indigenous leaders Ensure that a formal mentoring process is provided for Indigenous workers taking up entry-level positions within human service organisations Develop a process for mentoring of workers at all levels within human service organisations and offer Indigenous workers the option to participate Recommendation 8: Establishment phase for future Indigenous youth programs Ensure that an establishment phase is built into the budget and plan in the funding of any future Indigenous youth program, and sufficient time is allowed for establishment to occur before service delivery commences. - 80 -
