Romania<br />

Since 2003, Sodexho Service<br />

Vouchers and Cards h<strong>as</strong> been<br />

providing food aid and medicinal<br />

products to three Romanian<br />

organizations, Valentina<br />

Assocation, Sf. Andrei and<br />

Sf. Dimitrie. Teams purch<strong>as</strong>e<br />

specifi cally requested food items<br />

for these organizations that help to<br />

provide more than 80 healthy meals<br />

a month. Sodexho also donated<br />

a truck to Sf. Dimitrie to facilitate<br />

transportation. In <strong>2006</strong>, Sodexho<br />

initiated a partnership with local<br />

authorities to support low income<br />

single parents. Each month Sodexho<br />

delivers food packages to fourty<br />

families through a social center.<br />

Singapore<br />

Participation from Singapore began<br />

in December <strong>2005</strong>, marked by<br />

a volunteer program to benefi t<br />

the Bukit Batok Home for the Aged<br />

(BB Home), a Sodexho client.<br />

Employees volunteer at le<strong>as</strong>t four<br />

times a year at BB Home, a 200 bed<br />

welfare home.<br />

Spain<br />

In 2004, proceeds from STOP Hunger<br />

greeting cards were used to buy food<br />

for the Spanish Federation of Food<br />

Banks (SFFB), providing meals<br />

for 7,000 needy people in Spain.<br />

The “Kilo Campaign” w<strong>as</strong> launched<br />

in November <strong>2005</strong> to promote<br />

awareness about hunger in Spain<br />

and to encourage employees, clients,<br />

customers, and suppliers<br />

to volunteer and provide food<br />

and equipment donations to SFFB<br />

affi liates around the country.<br />

United Kingdom and Ireland<br />

Since 2003, Sodexho h<strong>as</strong> supported<br />

a breakf<strong>as</strong>t program that provides a<br />

healthy meal to needy children in<br />

the United Kingdom in partnership<br />

with Feed the Children. A healthy<br />

eating program h<strong>as</strong> reached more<br />

than 4,000 children from<br />

underprivileged communities<br />

throughout the United Kingdom<br />

and Ireland for the l<strong>as</strong>t three years.<br />

Sodexho employees introduce<br />

children to new fruit and vegetables<br />

and use games to show the benefi ts<br />

of healthy eating. Collection bins<br />

in onshore and offshore accounts<br />

of Universal Sodexho in Scotland<br />

benefi t the local chapters of<br />

the Salvation Army and have<br />

been in place since 2004.<br />

In <strong>2005</strong>, partnerships with<br />

FareShare, NCH, and St. Vincent<br />

de Paul were formally announced<br />

and encourage employees to<br />

volunteer with each organization’s<br />

affi liates. The Sodexho Foundation<br />

United Kingdom w<strong>as</strong> also<br />

established in <strong>2005</strong> and receives<br />

funding from Sodexho employees<br />

through payroll giving and<br />

hundreds of fundraising events<br />

throughout the year. Teams hold<br />

special fundraising dinners, <strong>as</strong>k<br />

for pledges to run marathons and<br />

sky dive, and continue to inspire<br />

others to join STOP Hunger<br />

efforts through creative events.<br />

In December <strong>2005</strong>, the Foundation<br />

made its fi rst donation of £5,000<br />

to FareShare in support of their<br />

“Christm<strong>as</strong> Meal Appeal.”<br />
