Basic elements and use of designA.1 | How we see ourselvesWith its vision, the Bilfinger Berger Industrial ServicesGroup has made a sustained contribution to establishingmaintenance as a separate solutions-oriented industry.Over the past few years, we have been systematicallyextending our own range of services and simultaneouslystepping up our internationalisation process. Our corporate culture and the guidelines are binding onus all and will continue to be decisive for us in the future. Our strategic motto “Solutions for Industrial Services”is both the agenda and the promise for a sector whichmakes a measurable contribution to the productivity andcompetitiveness of industrial activity thanks to professionalmaintenance management. Our design is and always has been an expression of ourcorporate culture. Consistent design shows that theindividual companies are members of the BIS Group. Auniform look and identity create a positive image Ourcorporate design symbolises the fact that in spite of allthe changes we are still the same company with the samequalities and values.Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev. April 20104

Basic elements and use of designA.2 | LogosThe most important elements of our design are thelogos. They symbolise our Company in compressedform.Subgroup logoSubgroup logoThe Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services GmbH logoshows that we belong to Bilfinger Berger AG.Word/symbol logoWord/symbol logoThe word/symbol logo, the BIS lambda, stands for ouroperating business.Word/symbol logo with suffixWord/symbol logo with suffixCompanyDouble linecompanyWord/symbol logo with suffixThe word/symbol logo with a suffix comprises the BISlambda and the name of the operating company. Eachcompany has its own word/symbol logo; depending onits length, the company name is placed in one or twolines next to the word/symbol. In connection with theBIS lambda, only the company name is used, i.e. withoutthe “BIS” prefix and without the corporate suffix.ProportionsProportionsIf the full-tone version of both logos is used on a singlepage, the BIS lambda must not be any bigger thanone-and-half times the height of the vertical line in thesubgroup logo.Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev. April 20105

Basic elements and use of designA.3 | Appearance of logosUsed in connection with the line, the Bilfinger BergerIndustrial Services GmbH logo symbolises the operatingcompany’s membership in the Group as a whole. Theumbrella brand is always located at the top of the page. The Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services GmbH logo as theumbrella brandIf the umbrella brand is used, there must not be any gapbetween the end of the line and the edge. The BIS lambda as a word/symbol logoFulltone in black or cyanNegative whiteThere are no limits as to the size of the BIS lambdawhen it is used as a watermark. It is merely used fordesign effects.WatermarkBilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev. April 20106

Basic elements and use of designA.4 | Company designations and languageWe use the name “Bilfinger Berger Industrial ServicesGmbH” only as the legal and formal designation of theGroup’s parent company, e.g. on letter paper and in thestatutory disclosures required on the web site and in the“Globe”.Only restrictive use should be made of the “GmbH” suffixto stress the significance of a declaration or role or tocomply with general requirements. The reference to the legal form (i.e. the “GmbH” suffix)can thus largely be dispensed with in internal and externalcommunications. Instead, the term “Bilfinger BergerIndustrial Services Group” or “BIS Group” or simply “BIS”should be used. This applies to both the German-speakingregion and other countries. The BIS lambda symbolis available in connection with the “Group” suffix tohighlight this international approach.BIS Group logoBilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev. April 20108

Basic elements and use of designA.5 | Strategic motto„Solutions for Industrial Services”stands for:Solutions Orientation to solutionsforOrientation to customersIndustrial Sector skillsServices Service orientationThis statement summarises in four words our entirestrategic orientation. For this reason, this motto is usedconsistently in much of the media we use.Solutions for Industrial ServicesSolutions for Industrial Serviceswww.BIS.bilfinger.comSolutions for Industrial ServicesApplicationAs a matter of principle, the “Solutions for IndustrialServices” statement appears in Thesis SemiLight.Solutionsfor Industrial ServicesPlease note the following“Solutions for Industrial Services” is not our logo and must therefore not be used in placeof the logo. The strategic motto is used both by the Group and the individual companies.Generally speaking, the strategic motto should be used in conjunction with the BISlambda. The strategic motto without the BIS lambda word/symbol logo is only used ifthe logo appears elsewhere in a prominent position.Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev. Basic elements and use of designA.12 | PhotographyImages are at least as important as the spoken word forconveying meaning. In fact, the information containedin pictures is registered by the brain more quickly thanany other type of signal. Images - and hence also design -play a crucial role in arousing an initial impression.Published images have the function of an exemplarymodel. For this reason, it is crucial for all images to be ofa high quality both technically and in terms of contentso as to reflect the BIS Group’s corporate culture asappropriately as possible. The HSEQ aspectThe BIS Group attaches prime importance to job safety.Accordingly, it is crucial for all images to show peoplecomplying with the HSEQ rules.Restrictions on the use of imagesWhen publishing photographic material, pleaseremember that photos are subject to copyright andmay fundamentally only be used with the permissionof the copyright holder. If photographic material is tobe used for advertising purposes, e.g. in brochures, advertisements, press copy, online media etc., it is crucialto ensure that clearance has been obtained from thephotographer or the agencies. It is also necessary to include credits, copyright noticeand details of the source of the photographs used.If you use any photos of customers’ facilites (e.g.an industrial plant), please obtain the customer’spermission prior to publishing the image. When composing a photograph, please remember that a square format isfrequently used in the finished product.Any questions should be directed to Bilfinger BergerIndustrial Services, Munich, Corporate Communications,ukomm@BIS.bilfinger.comBilfinger Berger Industrial Services | Corporate Design Manual | Rev.
