THE REALITY OF CONSPIRACIESSupreme Court), the Congress, and the Executive (especially theCabinet). Also, they captured the institutions that teach and inform thepeople who generally become the senior decision-makers in society:the media (the three major T.V. networks and the major journals ofopinion), the major book publishing firms, the public schools, andmost importantly, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Chicago, Berkeley,Michigan, and the other prestigious universities.Interpreting the U.S. ConstitutionWhat the conspirators have done is to short-circuit the true meaning, and true limitations on the Federal government, of the U.S.Constitution. They have nationalized and centralized a political orderwhich was deliberately created to be a decentralized system. AsProfessor Miller has described in detail, they have in effect substituteda secret constitution for the official one. Most people are afraid of calling attention to this capture of power, forin doing so, they would themselves become targets of the accusationthat they had become "treasonous" or "conspiratorial" — conspiratorsagainst those who seem to be able to announce the standards ofgoodness and true justice. In short, the success of the conspirators canbe seen in their ability to make their critics look like conspirators. Orfools. "You mean you think that the U.S. Supreme Court doesn'tunderstand the Constitution, and you do? Why, you must be crazy!"Who wants to appear crazy? And yet, and yet .... More and more people have looked at thedecisions of the Supreme Court — on compulsory busing of publicschool children, on striking down state laws against abortion, on theinsanity defense which allows someone to shoot the President of theUnited States and escape prison — and they have concluded, "TheSupreme Court is crazy, not me."This shift of thinking, above all else, is what the conspiracy fears. It isa shift in the "climate of opinion." It is a shift which they find difficultto control any longer, and which threatens their monopoly ofinfluence. This shift has taken place since 1970.The offense of pages 936-956 of Prof. Carroll Quigley's Tragedy andHope (Macmillan, 1966), None Dare Call It Conspiracy, and similarhttp://freebooks.commentary.net/freebooks/docs/html/gnco/html/1.htm (8 of 12) [5/26/2000 1:48:02 PM]
THE REALITY OF CONSPIRACIESconspiracy thesis books, is found in the thesis that a dedicatedconspiracy has quietly captured the power centers in order to furtherits own ends against .... Against what?To identify a conspiracy, you must also identify the "conspiredagainst." The identification of the "conspired against" establisheswhich kind of conspiracy thesis the author is promoting. There areMarxist-written conspiracy books that criticize the Rockefellerinterests as pro-capitalist. There are "right-wing" conspiracy thesesthat are anti-Rockefeller because of the State capitalism aspect of theEstablishment. Usually, the focus of concern is on politics and/oreconomic monopoly. Very seldom is the conspiracy traced backfarther than two centuries, with the exception of anti-Semiticconspiracy theses, and even these generally begin with the Rothschildfamily in the late 18th century. The Biblical ViewThe Bible reveals a much longer conspiratorial time frame: acontinuing conspiracy against God and His revealed law-order. Thefaces change, but the issue remains the same: ethics. Money, power, prestige, and influence all flow out of this fundamental issue: WhichGod should men worship? As the prophet Elijah presented the issuebefore the people of Israel when they gathered on Mt. Carmel duringthe reign of Israel's evil king, Ahab: "How long halt ye between twoopinions? If the Lord be God, follow him; but if Baal, then followhim." The next sentence is most revealing: "And the people answeredhim not a word" (I Kings 18:21). They never do, until they see who isgoing to win the confrontation. The biblical view of conspiracy neither overestimates the power ofconspiracies nor underestimates it. There is one conspiracy, Satan's,and ultimately it must fail. Satan's supernatural conspiracy is theconspiracy; all other visible conspiracies are merely outworkings ofthis supernatural conspiracy. This is the testimony of the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible's account of the Tower ofBabel records one unsuccessful effort of the conspiracy, and it endedin the defeat of the conspirators. The cross of Calvary is the ultimateexample: satanically successful on the surface, but it led within threedays to the definitive defeat in principle of Satan and his host. Christ'sresurrection definitively smashed in principle the satanic conspiracy.http://freebooks.commentary.net/freebooks/docs/html/gnco/html/1.htm (9 of 12) [5/26/2000 1:48:02 PM]
