38 Engine mechanicals The oil sump The oil sump comprises two diecast aluminium parts. The oil sump lower section forms the oil sump. The central oil passage is accommodated in the upper section of the oil sump. Special baffles settle the oil in the oil sump. The sender which informs the engine control unit of the oil level is inserted into the oil sump lower section from below near the oil drain screw, and then bolted. The oil pump is mounted from below and bolted to the bearing support.
