(AP) - Robert Marve had a 1-yard touchdown run to put Miami ahead for good, MattBosher kicked three field goals, and the Hurricanes' defense stiffened considerably in the second half on the way tobeating Wake Forest 16-10 on Saturday.Marve completed 11 of 20 passes for 153 yards and set up the go-ahead score in the third quarter with a 43-yardrush, helping Miami (5-3, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) win consecutive league games for the first time since October2006.Marve then hit Thearon Collier with a perfect 25-yard pass on third-and-10 with 3 minutes left, getting Miami tomidfield and allowing the Hurricanes to run out the clock.Josh Adams had 21 carries for 111 yards for Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2), which marched 66 yards for a touchdown onthe game's first drive, but didn't find the end zone the rest of the day. The Demon Deacons rushed a season-high 52times for 195 yards, but quarterback Riley Skinner was only 3-for-8 for 57 yards.Bosher's field goals were from 36, 52 and 43 yards for Miami, which matched last season's win total with fourgames remaining. Miami has won three straight overall, and extended its streak on a day where the 1983 national titleteam - the school's first of five championship clubs - was honored at halftime. The Hurricanes avoided disaster in the closing minutes.Bosher shanked a punt for only 15 yards, giving Wake Forest the ball at the Miami 46 with 4:24 left, but theHurricanes' defense forced a quick three-and-out. Marve came back into the game with 3:13 left, found Collier with thebig strike, and Wake Forest ran out of time outs from there. The Demon Deacons rushed the ball on all 10 plays in a 66-yard, up-the-gut drive to open the game, capped byMike Rinfrette's 1-yard touchdown.Nothing about Miami's defensive front dissuaded Wake Forest from pounding away: The Demon Deacons ranthe ball on each of their first 22 plays. Before Saturday, Wake hadn't had more than six consecutive run calls at anypoint this season. And by halftime, Wake Forest was up to 32 carries, only five shy of its per-game average. But after the initial drive, Miami chipped away, getting a field goal from Bosher to cut the lead to 7-3, then the 52-yarder from Bosher on the first series of the second half - after Sam Shields took a handoff on the kick return and gotthe ball into Wake Forest territory - to come within 10-6.A three-and-out by Wake followed, and Marve put together a seven-play, 65-yard drive to give Miami the lead forgood.Score by Quarters 1 2 3 4 ScoreWake Forest . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7 . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . 0 . . . . . . . . 0 . . . . . . . . . 10Miami . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . 0 . . . . . . . 10 . . . . . . . . 3 . . . . . . . . . 16SCORING SUMMARY:Qtr Time Team Scoring play Conversion Plays-Yds TOP WF UM1st 10:01 WF Mike Rinfrette 1 yd run (Shane Popham kick) 10-66 4:59 7 01st 04:11 UM Matt Bosher 36 yd field goal 5-57 2:29 7 32nd 13:42 WF Shane Popham 24 yd field goal 10-63 5:29 10 33rd 13:18 UM Matt Bosher 52 yd field goal 4--4 1:42 10 63rd 08:03 UM Robert Marve 1 yd run (Matt Bosher kick) 7-65 3:44 10 134th 12:09 UM Matt Bosher 43 yd field goal 7-19 2:51 10 16Stadium: Dolphin Stadium Attendance: 41208Kickoff time: 12:03 pm End of Game: 2:59 pm Total elapsed time: 2:56Officials: Referee: Brad Allen; Umpire: Jim Hyson; Linesman: Michael Kelley;Line judge: Jack Weiland; Back judge: Cole James; Field judge: Billy Beckett;Side judge: Jim Corpora; Scorer: K.C. (AP) - Jacory Harris threw a tying touchdown pass in the final minute and another onein overtime to give Miami a 24-17 win over Virginia on Saturday that gave the Hurricanes a tie for the lead in the ACC'sCoastal Division.Harris hit Laron Byrd with a desperation heave from 26 yards to tie it, and then found Aldarius Johnson near theleft pylon to give them the lead in overtime. When Virginia tailback Cedric Peerman was stripped of the ball on the Cavaliers' first play of overtime, theHurricanes (6-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) had their fourth victory in a row--and a spot in the tight battle for aberth in the ACC championship game.Virginia (5-4, 3-2) had its four-game winning streak end, and in heartbreaking fashion, too, after shutting down theACC's best scoring offense until the very end.Miami's tying drive was a 95-yard, 15-play march, and it featured a 13-yard pass on a third-and-13 play at thebeginning, and the touchdown on a third-and-15 prayer at the end.“Unbelievable," Miami coach Randy Shannon said. "These guys came out and they never quit.
