Florida <strong>State</strong> and Boston College from the Atlantic Division and Georgia Tech and VirginiaTech from the Coastal Division are the only teams left with a chance to reach a BCS bowl. Boston College(home vs. Maryland) and Virginia Tech (home vs. Virginia) control their own destiny while Florida <strong>State</strong> andGeorgia Tech will battle in-state, non-conference rivals Florida and Georgia respectively this weekend.RED ZONE RESULTSThe Hurricanes are a near-perfect 39-<strong>of</strong>-41 in the red zone on <strong>of</strong>fense, converting 25 touchdowns and14 field goals this season. The ‘Canes rank first in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 95.1 percent conversionrate. Florida <strong>State</strong> ranks second in the league with an 88.9 conversion rate while <strong>NC</strong> <strong>State</strong> third atan 88.6 clip.COUNTING COOPERSophomore running back Graig Cooper has a team-high six touchdowns this season (four rushing,one receiving, one punt return). That total is the highest single season touchdown total at UM since 2005when Tyrone Moss and Sinorice Moss scored <strong>12</strong> and six touchdowns respectively. Last season, Cooperled the team with five touchdowns, while in 2006, then-freshman Javarris James also led the Hurricaneswith five touchdowns. Benjamin currently ranks second on the team with four TDs (3 receiving, 1 rushing)thus far.51UM’s two longest plays from scrimmage this year resulted in a gain <strong>of</strong> 51 yards. <strong>Miami</strong>’s longest run thisyear came when sophomore running back Graig Cooper broke through with a 51-yard touchdown runagainst Texas A&M on Sept. 20. A few weeks later against Florida <strong>State</strong>, Cooper was involved in the otherbig play when he connected with freshman wide receiver Travis Benjamin on a 51-yard touchdown passagainst the Seminoles at Dolphin Stadium on Oct 4. UM’s longest play overall this season came whenCooper scored on a 66-yard punt return against Charleston Southern in the season-opener.MIAMI’S RETURN TO THE TOP 25The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Miami</strong> entered the Associated Press Top 25 last week, coming in at No. 23 after defeatingVirginia Tech, 16-14, two weeks ago in Dolphin Stadium. The Hurricanes, who were 7-3 overall and 4-2 in ACC play at the time, had won five straight <strong>game</strong>s for the first time since 2005. The last time theHurricanes were ranked prior to last week was in 2006, when the 15th-ranked ‘Canes lost at Louisville onSept. 16 <strong>of</strong> that year. The Hurricanes were also ranked 23rd in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) polland were just outside <strong>of</strong> the Top 25 in the USA Today Coaches’ Top 25.
